Looking good. Will be on my order list since the US has been postponed again.

The best thing about that link is that it looks like a finished product, not just another release date.

Probably the same date for Basterds.

I hope this release is done in the States too.
Briefcase...very cool.

Too bad the same can't be said for the product shots. It'd be nice to see some actual photos of the set instead of a poorly-done mockup. Looks like it should be a nice set, though.

Looks like a pretty freakin' awesome set.

For the price of 43 and some change in US Dollars and 20 shipping for a total of $63, it might actually be worth it as a sweet gift for someone.

But here is my question.

Can anyone guess if its going to be Region locked or not?

Just ordered the br at dvdcrave.com.au. Lower price and cheaper shipping.

Rumored release date for Basterds is Dec 15th (from Blu-ray.com).
That thing just wouldn't fit on the shelf with my other Blu-rays. I hope that giant funky hollow box won't be the only packaging option for US customers.

hehe... All this time it was a Blu-ray disc. I knew Quentin Tarantino was ahead of its time!

It looks awesome, but I'm not sure if I'd want the same big box. As long as it's being released in North America, with great PQ/AQ, a regular case will do

dstore.com here for $42 total.

is there any difference between the dvd and blu-ray versions besides the disc?
Got my shipping notice last night. Should have mine soon.

The BDInfo scan here shows that the video is encoded as 1080i50: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...&postcount=618

Getting my copy on Friday so I'll confirm this then (using a Marantz Vp-15S1 and an Oppo BD83).

Got it today. It is indeed 1080i50hz but the picture was the best I have seen the movie look. Both a standard Dolby Digital track and a DTS-HD-MA trach which I used the latter as it was the better of the 2.

The movie rating on the front comes of and I was expecting a huge presentation box but it was just slightly larger than a standard blu-ray case in size. Need someone else to verify if they detect the 4% pal speed up in the Audio as it was playing on my mind when watching it and I think I could hear it.

Oh and it played with no problems via the Oppo BD83.

Thanks, Spizz I should have mine in a few days. Can't wait.

So what was it that they kept in the briefcase anyway?
Speculation was always that it was Marsellus Wallace's soul, but QT said they couldn't think of anything alluring enough so they just decided to allow the viewer's imagination to make the decision.

a few pics of the packaging, in case anyone is interested:

not sure why the aussies are so fiercely againt subtitles, but if there's one movie i know by heart it's this one*, so even i should be fine.

* well, to be honest i probably know breakfast club even better, but that's nitpicking

Does it say anywhere on it if it is ok for Region A? I have a ps3. My folks are already sending me up a bunch of those 6-disc cases to use with my BSG collection, maybe I can get them to send this on up too so I don't have to pay insane shipping, since they're already sending up a big box for the kids for christmas.

But no subtitles at all?

It's region free, however its formatted in 1080i/50hz so your PS3 will gag on it I'm afraid.

my brother postulated quite a clever theory about the aussies considering reading ability posh, so including subs would upset them and hurt sales.
sure beats any theory i've got...

Can you clarify on this?

Is there a listing of BD players that support 1080i50 that someone can point me to?
