Yamaha RX-V661 + xbxox360 + stereo only? Help!!

I sincerely hope someone can help me with this -- thanks in advance...

So, I have my ps3 and 360 hooked up to my Yamaha 661 via hdmi. The ps3 has no issues, when it boots up it goes straight to 7.1. But the 360 is stereo only. I have the 360 settings configured for digital output & 5.1, and the hdmi light is lit up on the receiver -- but why only stereo? This is true of games and movies.

Any suggestions?? Please help!

The only thing I can think of is to make sure HDMI audio out is turned off.

My 360 always sets itself up under Sur. Decode (button 9) as Dolby Digital. A lot of times though I'll pick 7 Channel under Enhancer (button 6) because it gives out a fuller sound and more bass. One thing though, I have 10 speakers, so YMMV. My system is set up as 7.1 with the 2 extra Presence speakers.

Make sure that you turn on the reciever first then turn on the 360. My Marantz 70001 does this and making sure that the reciever is on first helps to make sure it kicks into 5.1
