Runco boards question - Runco 980 Ultra (NEC 6PG Plus)

My question is about these boards that are on the Runco which isnt there on the stock NEC. Anybody know what these are for- any body have a manual for the Runco models which talks about these? (the NEC ones are on Curt's site, I know).

First about the boards- there are 2 of them. One is above (Photo 1) and between the blue and green lenses (projector floor mounted) and it says- "Runco IDP interface control Rev C" and it has 10 pots for adjustment ( r5, r8, r10, r12, r15 in one row, r4, r7, r9, r1 and r14 in the other row with 10 LEDs next to them (marked D1-D8). In normal operation only 1 lights up- D1 first when projector is switched on and then D4.

There is another board below- again between blue and green, and it says "for use with idp 990" Photo 2 and 3 (3 is a close-up of section of 2).

Now about the projector- its a runco 980 and the previous owner said that it was upgraded to something. So I am guessing its the 980 Ultra (NEC 9PG Extra)- it does have a point board.

Thank you.

The first one is an interlace board that is used to eliminate scan lines.
The dip switches correspond to only the first 10 convergence memories and it only works with the PJ in "SW-1" level.
Basically if you turn the pot next to the lit LED (with the dip switch on) it will fill in the scan lines.
I'll try to scan and post page 70 of the manual that tells all about it.

Thank you, thank you! That would be very much appreciated.

Do you know why there are 20 dip switches and only 10 pots to adjust?

Dip switch bank #1 is a 4-1 interlace adjustment.
Bank #2 is a 2-1 adjustment.

ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS
(1)Choose #1 or #2 but not both for a single convergence memory and don't use bank #1 if using an external line doubler or direct composite/s-video input.
(2)An LED will light next to the active pot on the interlace board. Set the active pot fully counterclockwise.
(3) Show an externally generated source or pattern and slowly turn pot clockwise until scanlines blend together but not to the point that the image appears to vibrate.

Only works in SW1 level and only on the first 10 convergence memories.

Those boards have nothing to do with focus. With the NEC, do NOT touch controls or trimpots that you are unfamiliar with. All adjustments with the set can be done via the remote (with the exception of the original mechanical setup). Diving into the set will render it useless.
