Ultimately, when faced with a class action law suit, they finally decided to give ----a little---- and offer people with bad SXRD units, LCD models of varying sizes, PLUS you also had to pay them SOME MONEY for NEW LCD TVs. In addition, they allowed you to keep the old SXRD TV. I took a few parts out and dumped the rest of the TV. I NEVER WANTED TO SEE ANOTHER BAD OPTICAL BLOCK EVER AGAIN. Then like a jackass, I go out and buy a new RS35 for my screening room (I still ove the picture quality). As I've always said, LCoS, D'ILA, SXRD, or whatever you want to call it, is STILL THE BEST CHIP FOR MOVIES IMHO. It runs rings around all the other chips out there. Furthermore, for people bent out of shape over the Magenta line, you certainly don't want a SINGLE DLP CHIP and spinning Color Wheel.....unless you get off on possibly causing one of your friends to have a convulsion during Yellow Submarine.
The really sad thing is that they just don't either re-engineer the OB (assuming that they actually manufacture it, which I don't think they do). or TELL THEIR SUB CONTRACTOR HOW OR WHAT TO DO TO CORRECT IT. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE that a company JvC's size can't muster all their Yakusa together and knock off (pun intended) this problem once and for all. As I've already said, because I don't have many hours on my RS35, this particular problem has yet to show its UGLY FACE. The RS35 had a 3 year warranty, as opposed to the RS25's 2 year warranty. It's a strange feeling keeping everything as clean as you can, which is just forstalling the inevitable.
A final thought: Sony has been so good about their SXRD TV's, let's all run out and buy one of their 4K Tv's since they PROMISED to make 4K movies available.
They even give you a few to get you started.
The above is JUST MY SICK HUMOR, there is NOTHING I intended to be serious about it, so DON'T even ask me if I'm being sarcastic.
