Front Row Mac Mini and Monitors

Thread Starter
Hello and thanks in advance for any help

I am about to set up a mac mini and monitor media ctr.

Will the mac mini remote work with Front Row on any monitor
or does one have to have one of the Apple Cinema monitors?

I have heard good and bad comments about using a Samsung tv or monitor.
Is Samsung ok - otherwise I am going with a Dell 2209.
Is it worth it to go for the Dell UltraSharp line ?

thanks

your mac mini remote with work with any display. The remote works with the mini, not the display, meaning the IR receiver is on the mini, (i think somewhere near the front LED.)

i am curious, why get the mini + a monitor? most people get the mini to plug into a monitor they already have. If you're looking to a mac+display+front row solution, maybe you should consider an imac? Probably cost more than a mini+dell, but it sure is prettier.

Samsung makes a ton of displays and TVs. Some are better than others.

We used a mini with a 46" Samsung LE46 A656 TV. It worked very well with Front Row.

Just remember this is a TV not a computer display. If you want to use the mini as a general purpose computer (word processing, web pages with a lot of text) you are best off getting a computer monitor, not a TV.

LG M227WD isn't too bad if you want a computer display that has a TV tuner.

If you are getting a desktop system and don't have a monitor, what liulide79 says.

Frontrow works with an iMac too.
