Which new Denon unit replaces the 3808?

I do not see a new 38xx model and was set to purchase the 3808. I could have purchased it for around $1k earlier in the year. Which of the new units is closest to this very popular unit?

The closest one is the 3310. You'd lose a bit of power (i.e., 120 vs 130 watts per channel) and the XT version of Multi EQ Audyssey. In exchange you'd get a couple extra features (e.g., better upscaling chip, height channels, etc.).

BTW, you can still get the 3808 for under $1k, if you're willing to go refurbished. There's an Denon-authorized reseller that sells through eBay, where you can get an 8% cashback. I was able to score one from Amazon when they're clearing them out and I love it.

Power wise the replacement is the 4310. The 3310 is the replacement for the 2809. The 4810 is the replacement for the 4308. All of the new models from Denon did upgrade their video processors to ABT and added a few other things. Of course there is also an increase in price for the newer models for their previous years models.

You may also want to contact Penngray. He stated in another thread he was going to put his Denon 2809 up for sale for I believe he $600. Its also a very good model. Plenty of power and connectivity.

You might find this useful. The 3808 skipped a "2009" model and there is a 2010 replacement now available. Very nice page on model numbers.

batpig.com then look at model numbers (sorry can't post link as newbie)

link to The 3808 (amazon). The sound quality and video upconversion of this receiver are superb.
