Ok, I post here quite a bit and try to help out my fellow avs'ers. Now someone hook a brother up! I need an Onkyo 3007 or 5007 and refuse to pay those silly retail prices. I see some people have gotten over $1K off of a 5007 and 3007's selling for $1400 with a dock? Now someone help me!

the $1399 is gone and I think it came with an ipod dock as well! If that pops back up with the dock again for $1399 shipped, I am all over it like white on rice, but it is currently $1894 and no dock...
I am holding out for about $1300 so I can sell my 876 and not get hurt TOO bad...
Chris
Ps and who you callin' a PIMA!

I was looking at the specs between the 3007 and 1007, and it seems to two major differences are the "push/pull" amp design in the 1007, and the HQV processing in the 3007.
Personally, I'd be tempted to go with a 1007 and a DVDO Edge processor which should be about the same cost wise, but the Esge should be better for your video processing AND it will hold it's value well.
For the near future, upgrading the AVR could prove easier since you already have the Edge in place.
That would then leave the better amp design as the major difference. If you should happen to be using separates for you amps, then to me it's a no_brainer.
If you will be using the amps in the AVR, then it's a close call... depending on the sensitivity of your speakers and your setup, the difference may be negligible.

Dave,
I don't care about the amps in them as they power a secondary system and my main system is an Emotiva MPS 2. Now, the biggie is the REON vs the Faroudja. Reon wins HANDS DOWN (for me). I was a beta tester for the EDGE as well and played with it for over a year. The REON in my 886 and 876 is as good as the EDGE was for directv SD crap. even Joerod has commented on how good the REON is in the Onkyo's. ( and we know what a picky sob he is) I did have a lot of sync issues with the EDGE as well as having had to replace it once due to a crapped out HDMI 1 input. I have had no issues with the Onkyo HDMI (knock on wood)Once I set up the Reon in my Onkyo I am set! Blu-ray and SD DVD are handled by my Oppo BDP-83, and if I feel like playing with the reon for SD DVD, I can as well. Sometimes it seems to enhance the Oppo, sometimes not. If it were not for the Reon I would totally go for the 1007. The 5007 is out for me as the extra's don't outweigh the benefits for me compared to the 3007.
So, do me a favor, stop reading this and find me one for cheap!
Best,
Chris

Chris,
If you love the Reon, more power to ya. I prefer the ABT, but they really are damn close, and as long as Onkyo doesn't fubar the processing in the AVR, then it sure is easier having it built in.
Personally though, I like the idea of having the Edge separate from the receiver, which opens up more options for what AVR you can slide in there at any given time.

As far as finding you a 3007, I thought we were done with that. I served it up for you on a silver platter, fresh for the taking.
Oh wait, that's right, you decided to take a nap that day.
Well, now you're just gonna have to play the waiting game.
I would check the EGG every half hour if I were you. It was there once at that price already, so it will return. Just a matter of when.
I'd keep Amazon on the refresh page too, just in case.

Yeah, the day I posted apparently Egg had it up for the good price. Go figure... I have Amazon in my watch list as well, especially after I scored those 876's for $600 and some change.. You just never know with amazon..
Now DVDO has ANOTHER video processor coming out as well but the price on that bad boy is pretty pricey compared to the Edge...
Decisions Decisions....

http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-in-the...3D10%26ps%3D63

$1875 but you can make an offer.

Use bing cash back with the ebay bucks for 10% off which takes $187.50 off
for a net of $1687.50

claims to be factory authorized which seems hard to believe but hey might be worth a shot

WTF? I thought I had this thread set up to notify me when there are new posts? Why did I not get notification? I double checked everything as well. Could it be a "spam" filter in my email?
And yes, I did miss it from newegg, even though I was on the forum yesterday!
Did it have the free ipod dock as well?
crap, I could have done BING and saved a few more dollars as well with newegg..
^I don't think it had the free Ipod dock, because some of the Onkyo listings explicitly said they came with a free one, but the listings for the 1007/3007/5007 did not say that.

Check NewEgg every Saturday morning, that seems to be when the put the Yamaha's on sale and the sale price doesn't last long. Could be the same for the Onkyo's.
