I also recommend the irally app if you have an iOS or android device. It has videos, podcasts, news and more. Best part, it's free.

Next season will start earlier than normal due to the inclusion of the infamous Rally Monte Carlo . It will be a 5 day rally during the week and will end on a Sunday.

http://planetemarcus.free.fr/montecarlo12.htm

Here is the stage map with Google Earth .kmz file. If you have google earth on your computer/tablet/smartphone you can use this to view the route.

A European TV coverage deal will be announce closer to the Monte. Not sure when the US will get it, but it will likely air after the rally has finished. Live Coverage is a possibility for Europeans and maybe Americans. After all, the live IP feed of Rally France that I posted, did not block the US at all.

It is official, Eurosport is now the new promoter of the WRC. I have no idea who will have the US rights. Speed channel has a good relationship with NOS, but the people who run Speed channel might put it on Speed2 or give us a 1 hour highlights show at best.

More info on the Eurosport taking over the WRC. This could be a good thing as the Intercontinental Rally Challenge will merge with ERC and will use the latters name. This could make a nice feeder series into the WRC.
Well WRC is now in native HD if you live in Europe and have access to EuroSport HD; however, no US deal has been made since the EuroSport takeover.
There is a possibility of the WRC not airing on US TV. I think the Discovery deal was with the old promoter (North One Sport), and not the new promoter (Eurosport). I am sure Discovery will air the HD versions of the WRC since Rally Monte Carlo is in HD. Even the onboards and helicopter footage is in HD. WRC is a sport that deserves to be filmed in HD.

and shown live in the US...

oh right... they dont go around in circles... nevermind...

sigh...
Not even the Europeans get live coverage, but highlights on the actual days of the event would be ideal. This promoter fiasco has likely affected any US carriage deal.
HD is Europe only for now.
US coverage for this season does not look like a possibility since talks between FiA and Eurosport have broken down. FiA is now looking into a few interested partners and the FiA will work with another provider to offer coverage of Rally Sweden.

http://www.fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre...-wrc-2012.aspx

If US coverage does come, it will be delayed and not shown on the days of that event.
Talks with Eurosport broke off and the Rally Sweden organizers have had to scrape through a last minute TV deal, though this could be a good thing as the FiA is looking for a new WRC promoter. This could make US coverage more likely, but I doubt it.

Where can I find WRC coverage on TV? I don't need live or same day coverage, I just record them and watch them at my leisure.
Youtube has WRC coverage, if you know where to look. WRC does not have a promoter right now, so stable US coverage is not likely going to happen until next year. Next year, there should be a promoter and hopefully a stable US coverage deal.

Thanks for the reply. That really sucks. I liked to DVR the shows on Velocity, and watch while on a treadmill. Watching shows on my computer sucks. Oh well.

I was just checking Speed Channel's "Search by Program" chart and was shocked to see they've added an FIA World Rally category. I didn't know Speed was going to show WRC. They have Argentina and Acropolis listed. I checked my Tivo guide and Argentina is indeed scheduled for this weekend, and the Season Pass i've been using for HDT/Velocity the past few years automatically picked up on it and it's scheduled to record. It's a one hour broadcast.

http://www.speedtv.com/schedule/filt...1/timezone/pt/

4/29/12 Sunday 8:00 pm PST - FIA World Rally Argentina (repeats April 30 at 4:00am PST)

5/27/12 10:00pm PST - FIA World Rally Acropolis

Darn, too bad I don't get the Speed channel as part of my cable package. Guess I'll have to try to download it online somehow.....

Speed2 is their online equiv to espn3...

Speed will carry the 1 hour highlights, while Speed 2 will carry 3 day highlights of the WRC in addition to the 1 hour highlights. Speed2 also carries the Intercontinental Rally Challenge which is pretty awesome as well. It is like the WRC, but not as a high tier. IRC has the Tour De Corse which is a former WRC event and the Europeans get live TV coverage.

How about editing it such as:

World Rally Championship on HDTheater Speed Channel

or....

World Rally Championship on Speed Channel (was: HDTheater)

I presume editing the title (instead of starting a new one) will retain everyone's subscription to the thread? And would serve to let people know that they've changed from HDT to Speed.

My comcast guide for this Sunday at 8pm PST shows "speed center"...

Any others? What does windows media center (I also run silicon dusty's prime box) show?

My Time Warner SA8300HD guide shows the Rally Sunday at 8m just like my Tivo guide does, and Zap2it also shows the Rally scheduled at 8.

The Racefan TV schedule shows it at 11pm Eastern:

i wished they would give it a more specific name other than "auto racing" as my comcast lists it.

auto racing lists other kinds of racing...

I found out all the WRC races are on YouTube.
For instance just type in "WRC 2012 Monte Carlo" and each day's 30 minute episode is there. In hi-def too! I used a Mac program to download them and play them on my TV.

i could also d/l the torrents of the HD files also and then put them on my streaming server and then view them on my big screen...

but i'd rather click a button on my dvr and view it that way...
I don't have that option because the WRC isn't being shown as part of my cable package and I'm not gonna pay extra just to get the Speed channel.

Topic title edited.

Good to have Rally back on TV. Not good to see nothing has changed. Loeb is in the lead as usual. I wonder if part of the FIA's business problem is the continued domination of SB.
Ratings usually tank when there isn't much in doubt. For instance, there were reports that worldwide ratings for Formula 1 were down something like 30% when Michael Schumacher was dominating.
