I am trying to back up my xmen orgins disc but anydvd keeps saying that the drive is not ready.. I can play the disc normally until I get to the top menu then I can't select play from there... Anyone else having an issue like this?

Are you talking blu-ray? I had no issues...I think it did require a hotfix from Slysoft.

I haven't tried Xmen Originals yet, have it sitting on my desk. Make sure you have the latest version of AnyDVD running on your PC (you can compare the version you have installed to the one listed on the Slysoft website).

It should prompt you when you pop in the disk...If you're running the trial version it's not eligible for hot fixes.

Ok I updated Anydvd and powerdvd to current versions. I was able to rip but the top menu continues to just repeat itself and I am unable to select play.... I guess I am going to have to hold on to my Oppo if this is going to happen here and there.

Thinking of trying another program for blu ray playback... What are some options?

Unless you really need the extras on the disk consider ripping the movie only to an MKV file...There are several solutions and threads available on how too, this one is probably the best on AVS.

I would just use Clown_BD and rip the BR into .ts. You can then use whatever shoftware you would like. I use Media Browser in WMC, but you can use any other Media Center app or use a standalone player like MPC-HC

I never could get english when i used Cown_BD, ripbot264 even though i had it selected on the BD version.

btw why do you guys convert the movie when all you have to do is drag the main movie file to your desktop after the iso has been unprotected? It is a m2ts file which Windows 7 will play by default

Hmmm...I have never had problems with English using both Ripbot or Clown_BD

The reason is the m2ts file contains all the extra audio tracks, etc.. that can add over 4GB to a movie (I only need the English track and main movie, nothing else). I actually did a write up comparing different containers (ts/m2ts/mkv) and I found that m2ts to be the most inefficent with space:

Sounds like you've got a defective disc. Try cleaning the surface thoroughly using liquid detergent and your fingertips. If that doesn't work, return it and get a replacement disc. The only time I've ever had problems ripping a BD disc using AnyDVD HD was due to defective discs. Getting a replacement always resulted in a good rip.

Ripping to mkv or other formats doesn't really help the OP when his issue stems from not being able to rip the disc at all. Clown_BD or any other method won't do diddly squat if the disc is bad.

For what its worth, I had no problems ripping to ISO with protection intact (AnyDVDHD 6.5.8.7), and then playing back in TMT3.

I was able to rip it last night, it always played up until the top menu then the top menu just keeps replaying and I am unable to select any controls.... I played the disc fine in my stand alone player... Maybe powerdvd is the problem and I need to try TMT3?

Is that the case for every movie? I never new all the audio tracks where stored in a single m2ts file. Is there a way to see what audio tracks etc are in that one file? When i used clown bd the file size was the same size as the orginal and i only had english selected for x men origins. I never have been able to get english audio from it. If play the riped iso it plays in english of course.

To my knowledge yes (of course this is different if you are talking about a chained branch movie). When you use Clown_BD and select the "Playlist" which should be the main movie it shows a list of all available audio/video/subs. This would be everything that is contained within the one m2ts

Still not sure why you can't get english. Try using Clown_BD in NMT mode, select the audio track you want and select Unconverted/AC3, output as a ts and see what happens. I wrote a wiki on Clown_BD here

Will clown BD intergrate with WMC?

What do you mean? Clown_BD is an independant application. It is not used for playing videos, simply a tool to reauthor Blu Rays into various different user selected choices.

Ok so you still need to play back with something like powerdvd or TMT3?

It depends, are you talking about the actual BR disk or just the rip? If you are talking about the rip you can use any media player (i.e. WMP, MPC, etc...)

Yeah I was refering to the rip. I made a noob mistake, the movie ripped fine but powerdvd 9 play keys wouldn't start the movie, it would just sit in loop mode on the top menu. I actually just had to hit enter on my KB lol. On other movies I was able to use the mouse lol. Simple fix.
