Left 4 Dead 2 amazing gameplay - Page 4

This is definitely more difficult than the first game, especially when your AI team get in the way. The carnival level is so much like "Zombieland", I almost felt like I was playing a game based upon that movie. So far it's not much different from the first game but I am having fun with it and that's what counts .

I think that's for an achievement, isn't it? I saw some strange ones when I looked.

The lag on this has been really really awful. I've been in and out of numerous games and everyone seems to be complaining about it. Ugh. I know it's not my internet either..

There's definitely some lag issues. Can't be just "the internet" since everyone's pretty much complaining about it, and it's happening in nearly every one of my games too.

That aside, this is a fun as hell game. But it's really tough to find reliable folks to play through a full campaign. Keep getting to the finales on Advanced difficulty and then everyone but me gives up and drops out.

The dedicated servers render the game pretty much unplayable. They're really, really, bad. Hoping for a fix soon, but hosting your own seems to be okay so far.

It sure is. The gnome incident was my fault since I found it, and then was dumb enough to mention Halflife 2 has an achievement for carrying it through the whole game. You do unlock a snazzy Depeche Mode shirt for your avatar though.

If you're having trouble finding people to play with friend me. I should be readily available to play during the day on Saturday and probably tomorrow night.

Dumb question, but how can you tell the difference?

Is it the difference between quick play and custom games?

Right now, any game that has a good connection is probably hosting their own I actually just checked, and it looks like there is no way to specify which to play on when joining. Seems the only way to be sure would be to host your own lobby, because then you can specify either dedicated or hosting your own. That's probably why you've seen varying performance, as anytime we've tried the dedicated ones they were basically broken. User hosted matches are decent though.

Cool. I'll add you tonight.

I think the timing with MW2 is killing this game's online population, at least among my friends. Since everyone bought and is still playing MW2, none of the folks I played the first L4D with are playing this one.

I agree.

I have L4D2 but haven't played it yet. None of my "original L4D friends" have been playing it when I was online. If you see me on (even playing MW2), send me an invite and I'll try to join up with you.

Throw me in as a L4D2 option as well. I'm not on a ton, but if I am, I'll be playing this.

Because I haven't been able to find a good group for Advanced/Expert playthroughs, I jumped in for some Normal difficulty play.

Completely different game. No need for half of the items you get. If you just stick together on Normal difficulty, the game's ridiculously easy. I breezed through Dead Center and Dark Carnival without our team ever having to restart and without any of us ever dying. None of us also had to use any voice communication. But on Advanced, I have yet to get past any of the finales. Totally different strategies, communication, and equipment management required.

Agreed... and yet somehow Joystiq is complaining that it's too hard even on Easy.

As good a writer and editor as Chris Grant is, he's a bit of a pansy when it comes to games like this. Love the guy, but I much prefer the rest of the crew's opinions on these kinds of games (FPS, challenging, time consuming, etc). I'd much rather hear what Justin, Ludwig, Alexander, or Xav (or really anyone else there) thinks of it. I'm sure we'll hear all about it in this week's Joystiq and Xbox podcasts.

Im the type of player who plays advanced and doesnt give up until the deal is done. Add me if you are looking for reliable players. I have to admit it may be a couple of weeks until I play as I am into Dragon Age.

I have this game and MW2 that I just bought recently. Both are very different and cannot be compared. Both are fun it their own right.

If any of you guys want to play with someone who is not overly competitive and just likes to have fun while gaming, add me.

The game is really unforgiving and the bridge finale on expert is ridiculous. Also the lag is pretty bad and even more so this weekend now that all gamers have free XBL gold. Feel free to add my GT if you fellas are gonna attempt an expert run.

i tried to play this game all day and while i could connect, i just froze once i was in...

this is unexceptable for a pay service on dedicated servers.. seriously messed up.

(i could excuse the lag on peer servers or on a free service.. but come on...)

^^

Agreed, but set up your own server and it runs smooth as silk.

For all you fence sitters, L4D2 is on Amazon right now for 39.99! Get it before the deal goes away!
