Hi everyone, great forum! Just starting to peruse around at all the different sub-forums. TONS of info in here!

Anyway, here's my "theater" build. Nothing too exotic, as I am a slave to the 'man' and had to maintain some sort of a budget. A little background, I started construction last winter. I didn't want to build the room to be strictly a dedicated theater room. I also wanted to be able lounge out, listen to music, entertain, read, watch football with the boys, etc., etc.....just wanted a very welcoming room for myself and my fiance and our guests.

I think the room came out real nice, and sounds very good. I can attach pics and dimensions if anyone would care to see them. The room is more rectangular than square with a 7' ceiling.

Ask and ye shall recieve! About the room, this was an unfinished basement. The dimensions are 14' (w) x 18'6" (d) x 7' (ceiling). The side and rear walls are below grade. The wall to the left (if looking at the TV) is boxed in at the top due to a return duct. I added the flush mount swivel lights on dimmers to the underside to give ambiance to the room and creativity to the wall. The narrow shelf was done to create visual modern/contemporary feel. The home is a flat-roof Frank Lloyd Wright'esq style home, and felt the long horizontal plane fit nicely. The ceiling in an Armstrong 2x2 tile with a 90% noise reduction. The open wall at the rear was originally solid. I wanted to open it up to add openess to the room, and added the bar top with stools on the back side to give additional seating while having people over for say, the Super Bowl. As well as a place to rest drinks, etc.

The 'look' I had imagined in my mind while desiging the room was one of clean lines and very uncluttered. I also wanted it to be cozy, thus the colors chosen for carpet and walls. I went with the white trim to add sharpness to the architecture and to eccentuate the modern look.

Thanks my man, appreciate it. Not too over the top, but I really wanted to keep it clean and sharp.......no wires and no piles of tech-gear. Been there done that.

BTW, the grilles for the side/rear in-walls are missing because they are currently being painted to match the wall color.

Thaks for the compliment. The color is actually less green than the pictures represent. The color is an Olympic Paints color called 'Eiffel Tower', the paint code is D17-4.

We just finished it, thus the bare walls. Will add touches here and there moving foward. Thanks.

Not right now. I have a 42" Samsung and a 32" Samsung wall mounted in other rooms of the house with componants hidden in closets. I wanted to use my Boston towers with this set-up, and really like the way the Salamander A/V piece ties eveything together. True, I could still wall mount, snaking wires up inside the wall would be cake, but the height the panel is at now is ideal.

Thanks. Not sure what "pony wall" is? If that's the wall with the bar top/opening, then from back wall to wall with opening is 18'6". So, from the screen, subtract a foot....17'6".

Couch is from Crate and Barrel, the table and bench are from West Elm.

Since I started this thread I've added an Oppo BDP-83 and an Emotive XPA-3. I have also spread my front Boston towers quite a bit, and I raised and angled the center speaker toward the viewer position to help raise the dialog. The Boston VR970s put out tons of bass, but I'd still like to add a couple sealed enclosure subs in the future.

Here are some updated pics. I am no photographer as you can tell...haha. And the colors are nothing like the room actually looks. Carpet and wall color look much darker and a lot better then represented in these photos.

I noticed much improvement in my center channel, and a big improvement in mid-bass punch. A more noticable improvement in loud listening of blu-ray concerts vs. movies. My speakers are relitively efficient, however my Yamaha 665 just fell on it's face when I demanded reference+ volume levels. That is no longer an issue.
