I thought this site would be appreciated by others in this forum. It might be in the wrong sub-forum, but a nice change from "what speaker is best" and "this speaker is better than that speaker" threads.

Actually, I find the quality of the mastering can be more important to overall sound quality than any of the gear choices we make.

anything produced by Dr.Dre is mastered incredibly well.

Thanks for the link Curtis. Very good info and I have many of those recordings and have always loved the quality. A guy that bought my older Paradigm Studio 100's brought up a B&W "reference disc" that is also amazingly recorded. It had a couple of Mark Knopfler tracks and some classical stuff. I don't have a tracklisting, but I'll send him an email and get some more info.

I was wondering, does most speaker companies have demo disks?

I am glad you guys appreciate the info....I think it is very valuable.

Good recordings are important when critically listening to speakers.

Jason, I have a set of six discs of reference stuff from Focal JMLabs....excellent stuff. I also find the stuff that B&W makes available also great.

Try and find recordings by Audioquest. They are no longer doing music but they are some of the best recordings around and all sound fantastic.
Mostly blues stuff but Mighty Sam McClain is my fav.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon is one of my favorite CDs. I knew before I looked at that link it would be on the list! It is one of the best sounding CDs I own.
