For me, I have the receiver set up for direct play of 5.1 DD streams. for 2.0 streams I have it set up for PLII. So when the signal changes from 5.1 to 2.0 then the receiver changes modes. I don't know if there is a way to change this- ie lock it into a mode. I guess Pure Audio maybe, I'll try it. But then you loose the video signal, right?

This is over HDMI from a Dish 622 box. Most of the commercials are 5.1 during primetime viewing, it's the occasional low budget commercial that gets you. The audio is seamless, just the amp changing over. Not a big deal to me. I haven't really had much time with it yet.

Will it play also movies through the USB port ?

Ok, will it show a play list on the TV from the USC stick ?

And are there any "issues" with the 3007, i do read some problems concerning the use of the video scaler on other forums.......

Stick content will be shown on the OSD on the selected monitor, inc directory's. You can select a file or directory to play te files in that map.
Random, once or repeat.

I now use the 876 but want to "upgrade" to the 3007.
Should i buy now or wait until there will be a "stable" firmware/software version ?
I do see in some threads problems with the x007, like clicking noises, dropouts in music / picture........

Is this a real problem or a problem with specific "outside" divices and has nothing to do with the x007 itself ?

i would like to know that too..

hmm received my "open box" from newegg that i jumped in on a few days ago when i saw one pop up again, weird thing is that the packaging and tape on it looks original, never resealed, but upon opening it, the amp appears to have been dropped on a corner, denting the case itself, and making the surround right terminal every so slightly wobbly. checked for other damage and it looks good otherwise.

ultra weird part is that in the onkyo setup menu, the levels menu where i set +/- db per channel was available which seems to indicate that someone had run audyssey setup on it? my 807 had the levels menu locked out until after the initial audyssey setup, can someone confirm?

Is it worth keeping this amp? aesthetically it is nearly perfect, i opened the receiver up to inspect for damage, and banged out the dents, plenty of jewelers tools at home that i used for it.

Anyone foresee any issues from a "dropped" receiver? think i will test all the channels tomorrow to make sure they work, 5 of the channels are currently run by a dedicated amp.

thanks for any possible replies. and if anyone has received such a amp with damage, please let me know

I would not mind specially if I got it for a good discount. As long as it works fine a dent would not bother me. If I am right you got it for less than a 1007 so enjoy it

spot on with the price! what surprises me most is that i am positively convinced that the box was never opened, there is a single strip of tape on it just like my onkyo 807 box. the covered up stickers show that onkyo shipped it to abs computers in california, i also see a sticker that says package refused, return to shipper, and another label that i cannot see asides from the shipping label from newegg to me, seems like this box has been floating around for a while.
Has been probably dropped during shipment and Onkyo has repackaged and sealed it again (in a new box ?).
As long as you got a decent discount for it and everything works just fine it's up to you to decide, what to do ...

quite possibly, the styrofoam in my box seems like it has been through war, seems like the first receiver of the package rejected it because the box was pretty badly messed up. the dent on the corner of the receiver is roughened up, seems like it made contact with something rough, not sure if that was possible in the current box.

May be it fell of a truck during loading / unloading.

Can I run Audyssey after Bi-amp 3007?
Thanks
Hi,

received the 3007 today and replacement for the 876.
Here some findings compared to the 876:

1) First thing is that now when you connect 5, 7 or 9 speakers they all are present in the display menu, so not like the 876 where the display shows the number of speakers in the soundtrack of DVD or BD.

2) Audyssey DSX is faster and better callibrated then Audyssey XT, it sounded better then a run on the 876.

3) PLIIZ (High speakers) realy gives a extra demention to the music.

4) At first the Reon video scaler gave some "problems" with the picture but this was du to the menu structure being a bit different then the 876, so i missed some setting at first.

5) Intenet radio works easy but loads sometimes a bit slow.

6) Abosolute NO problems concerning "clicking" problems. It will click in some cases but this is even LESS then the 876 !!

Some strange stuff with the 3007:

1) With the possiblity of Audyssey DSX (WIDE and HIGH speakers) whi not power both wide and high speaker outlets ?
Now we can use one of the two with 200 watts per channel.
Why not split the 2x 200w in 4x 100w so both wide and high can be used, the software to run it is there............

2) The Subwoofer output can be tuned down for a specific source like DVD or BD. But only DOWN, not UP, and i find this strange as i would like the woofer to be louder when i see a movie, and lower on TV.
So Onkyo, please put also +dB in that menu.

3) A great option is the use of a USB stick for music. Nice clear menu on the TV and works great. Only they put the USB on the front panel, so the lid must always be open when you use a stick.
It would be better to have the USB port on the back, not the front.

4) i do not like the tuned back remote control, i miss some buttons (for this you have to go into the menus) and the most strange missing button is a REC button......
Why is this not on the remote ?
If you want to use the remote also for your settop box with PVR how do i press REC ?

Please keep in mind that this is my personal opinion.
But all in all, a GREAT receiver and a very good replacement for the 876 even the 876 is not outdated yet !!
Hopefull future updates will and can take care of some "problems".....
I have not updated my firmware/sofware yet, not sure if i need to, it runs ok now.......
It runs now on:

Yes, you would run Audyssey calibration after you selected the "bi-amp" option for one of the speaker outputs.

I am having trouble with the "delay". I have a logitec one remote that is great. The problem is with the "favorites" channels. By the time the 3 digit signal gets to the Dish receiver only one digit is accepted. I'm sure this will be ok if I can do something about the "delay". Any suggestions?

I've just purchased an Onkyo TX-NR3007 and the part number showing in invoice generaed by NewEgg shows as "REC ONKYO TX-NR3007 R".

Does any one knows what does REC means... reconditioned or receiver or something else?

i assume the suffix of "R" means receiver but hoping prefix "REC" doesn't means reconditioned!!

please help if anyone knows this.... ~ thanks
post #112 of 373
Had that on mine too, i didnt make too much of it, for newegg, it usually isnt refurbished unless the part number itself has a R at the end of it, ie. .. NEXXXXXXXXXXXR, x=part number
post #113 of 373
thanks, else I would have kept on thinking as what's rec... till the time R is not at the end of the part number I'm okay :-)

thanks again!
mine said the same thing. nothing about being refurbished, the unit looks brand new. I think it means receiver.

Hello All

Sorry if this is not appropriate. Does newegg have it at the current price very often? The reason I am asking is because I may not be able to order at this time. If they do not then I will order.

Thanks.
It's been about 100 dollars cheaper in the past. Check on the weekends.

This is still on my wishlist for a new receiver. I am still happy with my Pio 1015, but really want the new sound formats. Tough to bite the bullet and get this receiver, though, even at the discounted price! A lot of coin for me to put out at this time.

Need advice on listening mode and audio selector button on 3007. When I play dd5.1 source from my Sony dvd (715) on OPT1 input as a 7.1 PIIx processing mode everythig goes OK. But when I press the pause buton or scene previous 7.1 listening mode switches back to 5.1 mode (pIIx sign is still visible).
If I press stop and then play button listening mode stays 7.1 PIIx. It is very annoying if you watch movie, need something pres pause and then you must cruise with mode button to get 7.1 pllx mode active.

Thanks

Does anyone know if the flip down cover on the front can easily be removed? I have a clearance issue (less than 1/16th inch) in my entertainment center where a hinge will interfere with the flip cover fully opening unless I push the receiver back (and with the wires and all I'm not too sure how much it could be pushed back). I know the Integra clone comes without a cover, but the 3007 is more affordable.
