Best LCD / DLP projector for my case? Any suggestion? Want to get used projector.!

Hey guys,

I am having trouble researching which projector to choose.
whether it's LCD or DLP.
whether it's new or used. (I prefer used since it's cheaper and works just fine most of the time)
within the same price range, which projector to choose!!

So please help me out depending on my situation.

My situation:
a) Want to watch HDTV with the projector. [Mostly ESPN]
b) Want to get used (price under $750)
c) My room is actually really bright. But probably can block sunlight 85% with new blind.
d) Projector will need to shoot about 50-60 inch size of screen. NO more than that.

I want anyone to suggest for my case LCD or DLP assuming I don't have problem with rainbow effect. Which one is more price efficient to quality?

Lastly, where should I look into to buy used projectors? Which website?
I googled some used projectors but it never comes up...

I have never used projector before, so help me out please.

Thanks advance!

At 50-60 inches why not buy a flat panel, then you don't have to buy new blinds. I wouldn't use a projector < 92" screen.

Since I broke my 40" Samsung LCD TV when I recently moved, I decided to buy projector which is quite safe(?) when encountered moving.

Due to my personal circumstances, I have to move frequently like once a year or two. I know projector can shoot out over 60" but I put no more than that because I assumed low resolution in 100" would do fine for me in 50" situation.

Get the Epson Home Cinema 720. With the screen size you have, you won't be able to tell the difference between 702p and 1080p (unless you're sitting very close to the screen). The Epson retails for less than $1000 new, with a free bulb, and is a very highly regarded projector. You can probably find a used one for under $750 if your price limit is hard, but the marginal cost of buying a new one is so low, and the upside of getting a new projector under warantee is so large, I wouldn't bother.

Thanks riotnrrd. Do you know or have any suggestion for looking up used projectors? And warantee thingee, is projector subject to malfunctioning easily?

Your best bet is a new Epson HC720 as suggest, or even the new Epson HC8100 depending on budget, great two year warranty.

Used is cheaper but a risk, as usually no warranty.

Resolution is fine for 100" screen, you may think 50-60" will do, but once you get a projector you'll say otherwise....

Definitely easier to move with a projector.....
