How many friends in your list?

How many friends do you have in your friends list? How many are from this site?

The PS3 allows us 100 friends, do you feel this is a high enough number? Obviously this limit causes issues for some people, especially those in clans. I wonder if Sony has any plans to increase this cap in the future?

Right now I have 30 friends in my list, and probably 25 of them are from here. Not too many of my "real life" friends have a PS3

This is a very serious thread, please no witty banter or humorous posts. Thank you.

I have 100 friends and it's a real pain in the ass. I have to keep deleting people who either 1. Haven't played in a long time or 2. Haven't played with me in a long time.

It sucks. I hope they increase the number.

increasing the number would be a good thing. i think right now i have about 45, maybe 50 or so on my list. but at this rate it might fill up pretty quick. i only had about 5 or 6 but now i am in a NFS Shift racing group that has about 45 or so members but is growing quickly.

Have you tried making an alternate name or anything like that?

Why would I do that? I would lose all trophies/stats associated with my current name.
I have about 15-20 friends. 90% are people I know in real-life, Other than that : 1 from this site, 2 I met playing in NHL09 or Uncharted 2 beta and then 2 others from a Car forum.

exactly. that may not be important to everybody, but the other problem is game saves. a lot are locked and can't be saved and transferred to a new name.

I did not think of that, the idea of an alternate user had just popped into my head. Hopefully Sony will free up the necessary resources to allow larger friend lists..

it is a good idea though. say you are in a racing clan and also in a COD clan. you could have one account for your racing buddies and then another for your COD buddies.

Is there an easy way to check besides counting?

I have quite a few, mainly from AVS and NOM.

I wish there way a way to chart usage of friends, to see which friends are consistently on, and which ones rarely log in. be easier to weed out those who don;t use their PS3

I'd guess I have about 50. Many from the AVS Madden league, other people I've met in here and on other boards, and then some personal friends. I've had my PS3 for less than a year, so I can see how only having 100 could be an issue down the road. Last night I noticed 20 friends online at one point. A few months ago I was hard pressed to have more than a few. Hopefully they up the limit b/c in a year or 2 I could see myself needing the extra friends space as much as I've been playing recently...and I don't see myself slowing down anytime soon!

Just got a PS3 recently, so right now I have 0. Anyone from this site can feel free to add me.

The friends list sorts by last login so I just delete people at the very bottom unless I know them IRL or something.

Around 30, maybe 7 RL friends.

Feel free to add me, I'm play nights PST.

I am at about 97. Some games like Killzone 2 have a separate clan list, so you can join up with your clan members without having them on your PS3 friends list. Warhawk also supports this. Unfortunately COD:MW2 will probably not have this feature.

but I'm guessing you can't see who in your clan is online until you've booted up the game, right?
^that is correct, but it is still a helpful feature that more games should support and its disappointing that MW2 probably won't. It worked well for Warhawk because our clan always played on Wed. nights, Warhawk Wednesday, so once you logged on you could easily find and join what ever room they were in.

I have a bunch from AVS but more and more RL friends are getting PS3s now and so i've had to do some trimming. I feel that if a friend hasn't logged in for more than a couple weeks, he's removed.

I have zero as well.

Without coming off as unintentionally "witty," what good is it to have "friends" on the PS3? (no seriously.)

To party up with them in co-op or multiplayer games.
What, so it just pops up to tell you if you have a friend that is playing on their PS3?

Yes, it tells you which of your friends are on-line and what game they are playing. It will also tell you how long it has been since they were last on-line. Before I start up a game, I will see if any of my friends are already playing it, and will try to get into their game once I am on-line.

I don't know how many I have. Probably 20 or 30, not sure. I don't tend to accept invites that come out of the blue.
