I found this to be the case too, but after a few hours I got used to it. I still think it's not terribly intuitive and is just tacked-on confusion for old-school casual players, though--it took me WAY too long to explain to my co-op partners, neither of whom are huge gamers, how to pick stuff up in this game. Oh well. On the flip side, we all agreed that shaking to use the Propeller Mushroom/box is way more fun than it should be.
Informative observation: My hands are a bit
sore from playing this game about nine hours in the past three days. It's true that it might help if the Wiimote were a bit more ergonomic, but frankly, if you do anything
for nine hours you're liable to end up a little sore.
Other observation: Penguin Mario is THE BEST.
