New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Page 4

This game is STUPID with 4 players. I cant stand it > 3 players is a little better, 2 players is the sweet spot. That aside this game is great! it sure does bring back the memories and makes me realize how easy games are nowadays ha ha.

It took me so many friggin' times to beat the last Bowser fight when playing through with my brother. Those last couple of moving platforms (that go right under a low wall) were killers. Of course later when playing through by myself I didn't die once. Two players is definitely the easiest way to beat the game in general, assuming your partner is semicompetent and makes smart use of bubbling himself. But that last Bowser fight has so much going on that the added distraction of keeping an eye on my partner led me to eating many a lava wave.

And the special levels so far are awesome (only unlocked the first four). The first one is a little too "this isn't fun, this is just mean" but the three after that are so much fun to play I keep smiling like an idiot.

I was playing with 2 other people on that level. Fortunately, they died at the very beginning, so it was easy for me to finish.

9-7 is @!%*ing evil.
Yeah, it took my brother and I quite a while to beat that level!

Finally got those last two coins that were eluding me from 9-7, to finish up the game at 100%. If you're wondering, having all of the coins and then rebeating the ending doesn't change anything other than instead of Peach telling you about a secret world, she asks about your big adventure.
Yeah but good luck trying to solve it single player.

Obviously it is doable if you spend enough time (more than I care to!).

On the other hand, we finished it with 4 players in about 8 hours, minus the star or secret world as we need to go back and get all the large coins.

In some ways, 4 players ruined it for me as it felt like zerging in an MMO.

Those were the last ones eluding me too, and I just got them last night. The first part of the world is friggin evil, but using a star helped immensely. Also, I don't know how many times I threw a fireball to the right and ruined my escape path, sheesh.

No matter how many times they recreate this side-scroller, they always seem to do something awesome to make it better: the propeller and penguin suits, multiplayer, and worlds like 8-7 (the bone roller coaster) are a few examples.

Now I can't wait to see what they do with SMB Galaxy 2.

This game is awesome! I finally was able to grab a copy today at Sam's... The only place in stock. BBy had a hell of a deal on it, but I don't think they had many in

Anyway, Sam's had it below retail too.

I'm really enjoying this game. The wife and I love to play it together, but I do get frustrated with bouncing off / killing each other. It really is a blast from the past seeing as how we were both big fans of the original Mario games.

I do wonder if this was a new series how that would affect the ratings on gaming sites. I'm thinking the scores would be significantly lower simply due to the "been there, done that" nature of the game. But, again, I think this is a great game!

You guys were right...that last Bowser battle is epic.
what do you have to do to unlock more hint videos ? is it collecting the star coins in the levels or after purchasing certain videos it unlocks more to purchase ?
I played through the game 2 players with my wife, and I love the extra play modes when we have friends over, I like the fact that you can pick any level and everyone always starts with 5 lives so you can let people get as silly as they like without worrying about dieing too much.
The game is too hard for me!

I finished Galaxy just fine (2 x 121 stars) but this one, the control doesn't seem to gel as nicely as Galaxy.
Totally agree - the controls felt a lot better in SMG. Also, it was a lot easier to kill enemies by jumping on them. In this one, seems like you always die doing that if you're coming in at an angle. You have to come straight down on them, so you're better off throwing shells at them or sliding through them.
yeah if you could use the gamecube controller or classic controller that would rock
post #107 of 132
One of my favorite things about the game is that you don't have to use the pointer ever. That's my least favorite part of the Wii. I'm slowly collecting coins so I can unlock the levels in World 9.
I feel the game was pretty good, but WAY too easy leveling up wise.

By the third level I had 15 lives, by the end of the I ended with roughly 46 lives.

Now I just need the coins to unlock star world levels
post #109 of 132
That's pretty standard for a Mario game. In 3 and SMW, I always hit the 99 mark by the time I finish the game.
We just picked this up today, and are playing it now. This game is fantastic! It brings all the best parts of the previous games and rolls them into one package.

Just finished up the first 8 worlds. I thought you guys were all kidding about the last battle, and then Bowser starting chasing me through the place. Good stuff.

I didn't realize that I should have paid more attention to the star coins. Anyone know a website that shows them all?

IGN has at least one walkthrough posted there that should list/show every Star Coin location.

In fact, here is their "official" one:

Mario World is perfectly beatable in 6 hours. As said, 6 hours, to finish a 2D platformer in a hurry ignoring secret levels and items, not to mention multiplayer... hell, that' means the game is quite beefy.

True - you can blast thru NSMBW & at best only uncover the "secrets" of the Warp Cannons & topple Bowser fairly quickly.

Of course, once you do that, Peach wil ask you if you have seen the "secret" world 9. To get every level of World 9 open, you have to have grabbed EVERY Star Coin scattered in Worlds 1-8. And considering the brutality of the handful of World 9 levels I have unlocked so far.....well, this game is gonna run MUCH longer than 6 hours in the end

You can reach every exit in Super Mario World in 6 hours and beat it in just 20 minutes or so by using the Star Road.

So I'd say from my experience that you're right and this is a much longer game to not only finish but to get 100% on.

This is still one of my "haven't played it yet" games just sitting on the shelf here. In fact I never even played my paper mario games! I really need to feel better and play some of these games.

We started this one last weekend. Fun stuff. Partner plays with Wiimote on its side, me with nunchuck.

Did some 3 & 4 player w/ this last weekend w/ relatives.

Insanity - best way I can describe it. And meant as a compliment.
I can't even imagine 3-4 people.

"You KILLED me with your shell."

"I didn't MEAN to."

"Ya wanna get big or twirlyhead?"
