Make sure it's wired up for the same impedence.

It is but I think it's something else.

Here's the replacement.

Here's the "something else."

Drop from a double to a single magnet ring.
I must be blind mojo...what am I missing? I thought the 1000 model driver always had a single magnet ring?

This more cone shaped magnet is the replacement? Did you figure out or ask Jeff why the diff in sensitivity?

The cone shaped end is basically a bumped back to allow for longer excursion, but I only see a single magnet ring there. The older driver has two rings. The driver in the regular Cap has three rings.

I have dual OSs but haven't seen the driver that goes in the OS and regular cap.

That's a prototype 2012 cap 1000.
Here's my regular Cap driver. Note the triple magnet rings. I noticed that you said the driver weighed 50 lbs. This driver is about 68 lbs.

The prototype has a couple more mm of xmax. One set of speaker terminals. It seams to me a bit more sensitivity. The sound quality is still the same but I think it sounds better with music. A bit more in your chest feel though. I haven't demo any movie scenes on it yet.

Now you're really confusing me. Is the new one 5db more sensitive or less sensistive?
I mean it's less sensitive. I havent had a working Cap for a while and the rattle was getting worst. Im sure the sound quality was effected by it.

Quick vid of "bass I love you"

I'm really lost regarding all the different Cap drivers. Does somehow happen to know how many there have been, as well as, the pros and cons of each?

Questions would be best directed as Jeff I'd say. If anyone can give you the answer you're looking for it's him.

That's exactly what I was planning on doing if no one else has already done the same and just hasn't taken the time to post the aggregated list of drivers in this thread.

I'm really enjoying the sub. From what I can hear, the prototype sounds more controlled and more of a punch.

Are the prices on the website including shipping?

Shipping is not included but the shipping costs are not as high as what many others charge for similar size and weight.
I'll have to email them for a quote. I would imagine 150lbs to California might be a lot.
I just shipped a 43lb pair of speakers to San Jose for $47.

I live 7 mins from JTR and I'm certain he gets better rates than me so I'd guess it will prolly be cheaper than you'd think. ~$100-$125 I'd guess.

150 lbs is a major threshold. If it's 150 or less FedEx is not too bad. If it's over 150 then UPS Freight is your best bet and it's muuuuuch more.

Yeah I'd guess the passive version can stay under 150. And I'm sure someone who does as much heavy shipping as Jeff has significantly different parameters over Joe6P.

Many audio companies will profit from marking up their actual shipping costs. From my experience, I don't believe that JTR is one of the companies that does that.

The Captivator driver only received one update that included switching to a 6 spoke basket and spaced spiders.

The Captivator 1000 driver received some mirror updates for 2012.

Both drivers have the same T/S parameters and sensitivity however the Captivator driver has more travel which is necessary for the higher power.

For 2012, both the Captivator and Captivator 1000 now weigh less than 150 lbs and can ship small package ($120 average). The previous models both weighed over 150 lbs and had to ship freight ($200 average) which saves an average of $80 in shipping cost.

You're right. The 150 lb threshold is for individuals shipping to each other. I don't think vendors with a freight contract have the same huge jump in cost over 150 lbs. Last time I inquired the cost more than quadrupled over 150 lb.
