Hi guys I have a Sharp 52" LCD and I have my HTPC hooked up to it I just formated the PC and setup the video drivers but I can't seam to get the picture to cover the entire screen it is just in the middle as 4.3 or something like that. I am at 1280x1024 res. now and I like to stay there when I go lower to 800x600 it fills the screen. Can anyone tell me how I can fill the screen and still keep a high res, I herad of a tool called powerstrip or something like that but I don't know how to use it.

Your Samsung users manual has a whole chapter about receiving input from a PC it wil have all the information you need. I suspect that your 52" model is a 1080p model whch means that your desktop and output should be set to 1920x1080 to insure you don't get blurry text in PC applications. Also your Samsung sets and saves its picture/size settings separatly for each resolution it receives over each different interface connection.

Hi thanks for the reply I acually have a sharp model 1080p

What is the actual model? What kind of connection are you using? If you are using VGA, the Sharp will accept a maximum 1600x1200 resolution. If you are using HDMI, you can get a 1920x1080 resolution, but it highly depends on your computer's video card or processor.

I have a 52D85U and I can't get 1920x1080 over HDMI to be consistent. It constantly flickers in and out. I know that other users have set their Powerstrip to 59Hz refresh rate and have had success, but I also can't figure out how to use the program.

Token...,
Are you trying to send 1080i or 1080p? Many HDMI receiver chips will not accept 1080p but will accept 1080i.

Hi yeah I have a Sharp LC52SB55U and the video card is a NVidia Geforce 7300LE. The PC is hooked up via VGA. It is a pretty old system but it works the pc is about 3 years old.

1080p. I don't have an issue with other 1080p sources. I know that several users have been able to get it to work when they change the refresh rate to 59Hz on a PC using Powerstrip.

I've only tried a few times. I have a LG 32" that I use for a PC monitor, so I haven't given the Sharp much more thought as a PC monitor.

VGA is the limitation on your TV. Unfortunately, Sharp doesn't accept 1080p over VGA. Try 1600x1200. You won't fill the screen though.

The VGA output supports much higher resolution than that. The problem is that the Sharp will not ACCEPT any higher resolutions than that over VGA. It will only accept 1080p over component or HDMI.

I'm ok with that res. but i really would like to be able to go widescreen. Can I do that?

You Samsung Picture/Size options should provide the ability to perform either a linear or non linear(panoramic) stretch of 4:3 aspect ratio 1600x1200 resolution to fill the 16:9 aspect ratio screen.

That card has DVI doesn't it? Just get yourself a DVI-HDMI cable and use that. You should get 1920x1080@60Hz no problem.

You certainly don't want to loose 1/2 of the pixel detail content from 1080i or 1080p content by outputting it at 1280x720.
The 7300LE card may not support 1080p/60 output but it will certainly support 1080i/60 content over DVI.
You may want to get a DVI-HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable instead of a DVI-HDMI cable which is probably not only more expensive but it will not be able to be used in the future when you want to send HDMI to HDMI.

No, No DVI on this card just vga.
Go snag a card that does then. You can get a card with DVI or HDMI and that handles the new video codecs quite cheap these days.
What make/model 7300LE do you have?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ion-_-14139006

You are doing yourself a real diservice if you have a graphics card that can not output 1080i to your TV is you are using an a HD tuner or a BlueRay disk player.
I have a DVI output on my computer and can tell you that a DVI-HDMI cable will only get you so far. If your graphics card cannot send the Sharp the refresh rate it wants, it will not display.

I just wanna thank you guys for helping me get this up and going, so what I did is set the res. at 1600x1200 and changed the aspect ratio on my TV to stretch and it works awsome and fills the screen. I thought I will have text all streched out but it did not make that much of a diffrance at least not to me.

Thanks guys
