TV audio output VS old amp+speaker?

Hope this is in the right spot, if not, please move.

I am fairly new to the whole audio thing. My budget wont allow me to buy a HT-S6200 and i can't stand the audio from my Samsung A550. Would it be better to hook up an old amp (which i got as a hand me down) from the 1990s(maybe early 2000s) with speakers or would i get better audio from my LCD?

Yes, connect the old amp/speakers as it is almost guaranteed to sound better.

Assuming you have the necessary inputs, basically stereo inputs or better, an amp + speakers HAS to be better than the tv speakers.
