I need your guys help... I don't know anything about the mechanics of electronics. I can fully operate them and use all their features but don't know how they're made. I got home and turned on my television and the picture was perfect. In about 90 seconds, the picture shifted and the screen turned completely black but the backlight was still on and so was the television. I would change the video source and the LED light would blink like normal but nothing happened on the screen. Does anyone know what this is? Just wanted to know what you guys suggest I do. Thanx

The only thing you can try is unplugging the set for 10 minutes. If that doesn't work leave it unplugged overnight. Other than that it needs to be repaired, Sorry.

I'm currently working on fixing a freebie LCD tv that has fubared colors right now.

During my tests, I noticed that the PCB LCD controller includes the IR receptor, along with not allowing the TV to even start if it is unplugged.

And that there are many many flex cables going from the the LCD controller to the LCD panel, so one loose connection wouldn't cause the whole screen to blank out.

So we might be looking at a damaged PCB, and not just a loose cable :-(
but I'm not sure all inner workings of a LCD tv are similar.

Either way, whatever caused it, you're going to have to get it repaired, or do it yourself.
So, since you're here, I'm guessing you don't want to get it repaired, hence... start unscrewing the thing apart. Take your time, take pictures of the progress, tape the screws to the part you unscrewed. etc etc

Then tests how things behave when certain parts are unplugged.
