So my current VIP 722 started having DVR issues recently. The picture would freeze and lose audio/video sync while watching recorded shows. Watching live programming I had no problems. I read on here that it appears to be a firmware problem, that is often resolved with a replacement box.

We have approx 70 shows that we have to watch, so when the replacement box arrived, I asked dish how I could transfer them over to the new box. Their answer was pay them $39.99 to activate the usb port. I just dont get why I have to pay $39.99 to transfer my recordings to a new dvr since it was a faulty dvr that caused the problem in the first place.

Anyway, does anyone know of a way to get around this? Or am I just stuck paying the fee. I dont mind paying, its just the principle. Plus, my wife and I delete everything after we watch it...we rarely use 25% of the dvr capacity. I dont need the extra, regardless of now cool it is.
