Thanks, the apartments were tough and I had to compromise on a lot. Video especially suffered in the apartments, light was a constant battle with the projector until now.

Very nice setup and congrat on the popcorn machine. I don't think I could ever get tired with the smell of popcorn. Quick question if I may; how did you like your Streem speakers? and are they worth it?

thanks

The popcorn machine may have been one of the best upgrades I've made so far. Microwave bags just can't compare and the smell definitely lingers long after you're done so it even smells like a real theater.

As for the Streem speakers, I enjoyed them for several years until the upgrade bug bit. For the money you pay they aren't bad but there are definitely better speakers at around that price or slightly higher. After reading about speakers like Acoustech, Bic, Hsu, and some of the other internet direct companies, I would have a hard time recommending the Streem speakers. I don't want to say they are bad, because they aren't. Just that there are definitely better alternatives for the same or slightly more money.

Thanks. I need to get some pictures of the system running now that I have the new setup. I realized all my "system on" pictures are from my apartment.

Got it for $60 I think from JCPenney. It works pretty well. Wish it made a little more for each batch though.

Yeah I keep checking Craigslist because I want to score one of this big ones like they have at the theaters that can make a ton in one batch but I haven't found any below 250 that are in good condition. And that's just too much to overcome the slight inconvenience of having to make 2-3 batches in mine vs 1 in a big machine.

Couple more additions to the decor.

And a big thanks to mheadroom for making these signs available. If you haven't already seen them, check out the thread at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1062844.

I need to take the bulb out and run an air duster through the projector and try to get that dust off the lens. That green blob is so annoying in dark scenes as you can see from the Iron Man shots.

Just sold all my polk speakers and picked up a klipsch setup through craigslist. Pictures to come once the rest of the speakers arrive.

Hey Ben, glad the speakers got there early! Let's see some pics.

Newest additions to the theater. Thanks reeltrooper for the center and rear speakers. New setup is a pair of RF-3's, RS-3's, and an RC-3. Pretty stoked about the new sound. So clear and detailed.

Nice, I loved the first reference series. I still think the first RF7s are the best Klipsch speakers I've ever heard. I bet there's a bit of a difference with them, especially with your receiver. It can be hard to find a right combo but Pioneer and Klipsch have always been a good fit in my eyes. Well done. smile.gif

Yeah definitely a big difference. My receiver could run the LSI's but not well enough to get the best sound out of them and I just didn't want to (read: wife wouldn't let me) drop another $800+ into amps. The Klipsch really sings on the receiver and everything sounds so much better.

Wife spilled water on my Harmony 880 and the screen won't work anymore. Enter Harmony One. It was getting about time anyway, I had about worn the volume button out on my 880. Almost all the paint was gone and the volume up had to really get pushed before it wanted to work.

Make sure to keep your fist closed tight when you're "talking" to her about that. Don't want to hurt your hand.

What kind of tables are those that you have your receiver on? They have a nice and clean look. They look like they are from Ikea, but I am wondering.

Thanks.

Good eye. Ikea Lack tv stands. They're about 40-50 each and I have 2 of them stacked on top of each other. I've had them in several different arrangements but this one works the best so far for my room. They can be had on craigslist for about 20 each or so.

LOL, she would appreciate the humor in that too. She thinks sexist jokes are honestly hilarious and tells more of them than I do. But no it's alright I was trying to find an excuse to upgrade to the Harmony One anyway and this gave me a reason and the WAF to do it. Pretty much a win-win. And I think I can get it dried out and and replace the screen and it should work fine again. Give it to my buddy to use until he can convince his wife to let him get a Harmony.

Bancorn, this thread is incredible. I really enjoyed watching your HT progress from a dorm room setup to a dedicated room. Well done and congrats on your setup. I hope to have one like that some day!

Thanks so much. It's been really fun building it up over time and constantly reading avsforums for new ideas and reviews. I originally started with a small HTIB in high school but I don't have any pictures of that. I was hooked the moment I powered that up the first time.

Hey Ben! So cool to see the speakers in their new space. It looks great. I'm glad it all worked out.
SO, my Harmony one hit the deck the other night and the screen is toast! Tried contacting them online but no response. Do you know a way to get new screens for these things?
Thanks,
The other Ben

Ebay sells just the screens. They're usually between 40-50. I've seem a few places online that sell them as well for about the same price. I was looking to replace my 880 screen but can't find that one anymore. I'll have to keep looking because everything works but the screen.
