Choosing vaulted ceiling surround type/size/placement (pics included)

Hi All,
I am working on setting up rear surrounds in-ceiling in my new home. Unfortunately my only option for the 4X rear 7.1 surrounds is in the cieling. I know this isnt the best setup, but I can live with it. This is not a high dollar home theater. Fronts are infinity P362, center is infinity PC350, sub is infinity PS212. I have an Onkyo 7.1 receiver.

The problem is, I am not sure what type and size speaker will work best with this room layout (see pics below): bipole/dipole/monopole? I know this is somewhat "listener preference", but I need some opinions. The vaulted ceiling makes it more challenging. I originally thought I would get some matching infinity in-ceiling speakers (either 6" or 8"), but I'm not sure that is the best thought anymore. Would Omnican's be a better choice? I'm limited in budget - the omnican's are already at the high end. This setup is strictly used for home theater.

What the best choice for size on an in-ceiling surround? I suspect the larger units put out more bass, but is that necessarily needed for a rear surround?

Thanks!!

My friend has the OC-55 with Aperion fronts - the Omnicans are self-enclosed and they sound pretty good. I myself mix the Mirage Omnisat v2's with different MFG speakers in front and I like the result. I'd say go with the Omnicans as they'd likely do well with many brands of speakers in front - though, that's just anecdotal.

Thanks for the reply. I'm leaning towards the omnicans, but I am not very familiar with them. Will I get any amount of directionality from omnicans as rear surrounds, or would standard monopole in-ceiling speakers do a better job providing directionality?

For my room size/layout I dont know what size omnicans would be best: 55's, 65's?

Thanks!

IMO, A more convincing audio experience can be obtained... 1.) By placing the front stage on the short wall ( the one with three windows), perhaps by reducing early reflections. 2.) Using matching speakers for obvious reasons. Stick with your idea of using Infinity speakers.
