Decisions, Decisions, Decisions... Please Help

Hi all,

I am trying to decide which home theater system I should keep and I could really use some suggestions.

I have an Onkyo HT-S760 6.1 home theater system and it has been serving me well for the past few years. I love the receiver, the speakers and the fantastic sounds they produced.

As of right now, I only have a DirectTV HD DVR and an old Sony DVD 5-Disc plugged into it. The TV is also an old Sony 27' WEGA. I would like to upgrade to a HDTV with a blue-ray player. I'd also like to get a receiver with plenty of HDMI ports and be able keep the speakers from the Onkyo HT-S760.

I pulled trigger on a deal which includes: the Sony XBR9 46', the Sony HTSS360 and Sony BDP-S360.

The reviews on the Sony HTSS360 are generally good but some of its quirkiness are a little irritating. So, I'd like to get rid of it and get a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K to use with existing speakers from Onkyo HT-S760. Is this a good idea? What are your thoughts?

Thank you for your time and your suggestions are most welcome.

If you're happy with your speakers then the Pioneer vsx-1019, Denon 1910, Onkyo 607 or HT160 will all work for you. I assume lots of HDMI ports means at least 4? Just pick whichever feature set you like.

I am not a fan of Sony AVRs at all. Doesn't matter the price range either. Throw it on Ebay!

The Pioneer would be good but I would look at the Denon 1910 and Onkyo 607. I prefer the Audyssey solutions like Room Correction, Dynamic Volume, Dynamic EQ, over the Pioneer's proprietary solutions. Marantz is also good, but I don't know what they have that might be close to your price with the HDMI inputs you need.

If you like your speakers, awesome, but I am sure you could find a decent upgrade for not a lot of money. Maybe in a year or two when you want to put more funds in your HT. Great info over at the Speaker Forum.

Good luck!
