Kenwood Basic M1D...worth it?

Hey everyone,

I'm kind of a noob at this, and need your help. I have the opportunity to buy a Kenwood Basic M1D amplifier for about 75 bucks. I would be using it to drive a pair of JBL ND310s. I currently have them running off of a HK AVR-247, which drives them at 65 WPC in stereo mode. Would I hear a difference feeding them the 125 min that this Kenwood supposedly sends to them? Feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have very limited money to spend, and this would be my first delving into the world of separates. Thanks in advance guys

Are you having trouble driving your N310s to high-enough SPL? Are you clipping your AVR's amps or putting it into protect mode? Something tells me your speakers will already distort with the power already available, so adding more won't really help.

I actually have very little problem with distortion. I notice when I'm running all 7 channels, I simply don't get a lot of volume out of my fronts. The plan would be to use the 247 as a pre for the mains, and then use the kenwood as an amp. The 247 would drive the other channels.

If you're not able to get to the SPLs you're wanting, an amp would be the logical next step. How much are you looking to pay for the Kenwood?

About 75 bucks. It appears to be a really good deal, but I know little about the amp.

That's probably a good deal and worth trying at the price.
