I am looking for more of a spacious sound and that extra sparkle on the high end.

Just can't decide though....

Hey man, check out Home Theater Magazine's new review of the KEF IQ's....they may be just what you're looking for! Loving the SVS's by the way. Which do you think is better, the PB-12 or the SB-12?

Thanks for the heads up. I will check them out although I am not the biggest fan of the new super boxy look.

The PB-12 hits hard. It's a beast for movies. The SB-12 is really tight and clean and great with music. The actually sound good together, to my ears at least. But I do think the Velo SMS-1 would now come in really handy.

Thanks man. I have OCD, lol.

I will probably be selling the Polks pretty soon. Still can't decide what to get though. Too many choices...

Small update.

Picked up the Iomega ix2 2TB NAS. Very nice little unit. This will be used to store my music, movies, etc. Also for backup and still need to play around with the personal cloud feature + torrent manager.

thanks for posting up in my setup. Yours is very clean. Dual subs that's sick. Now you've got me tempted to try that on my rig. I have dual sub pre out's in the back and already ran a second cable behind my couch just in case and an old spare sub (albeit not a great one).

Do you find it's important to have two subs of similar power or similar brand like when you try to match front speakers?

Thanks.

No not really. I bought the SB12 for my computer room but due to poor placement choices there it just didn't work out. I have since moved my desk around and may try again but I think with a sealed Velodyne, like the Optimum 10.

It does sound pretty good with the living room system. It added more punch from the front stage as well as smoothed the bass out a little.

I need a SMS-1 though to EQ everything, I think....

Drew-do you have Blurays on that hard drive? I've been trying to find a reason to hookup an external to my system and if I'm able to rip and play Blurays I just might do it. I also have over 23,000 songs in my iTunes library that would sound better off a drive than streamed through Airplay.

Hey Steve. Not yet but yeah that is the idea. I just got the unit a few days ago. So far it seems to stream through the PS3 really well. Everything is on a wired Gigabit network, no WI-FI. I would occasionally get some stuttering trough WI-FI.

you start doing that you'll need a lot of space.

I'm running 2 HTPC with my main one as a server in my living room. It currently holds just short of 10 TB and it's tight on space and serves my other HTPC in the bedroom and the Internet for remote viewing.

Yeah I've heard that Blurays take up a bunch of space so that's something for me to think about. If I can't get all of them + 180GB of music on a drive I probably won't bother.

What brands are you looking at? Someday I think I'll be a Salk owner, but since I just dropped a grand on a Rythmik it'll have to wait.

I think it's up to about 50GB per disc. So yeah, it can get crazy pretty fast. I am thinking of loading only a few discs. Basically just stuff I like to watch often.

I am looking at a few brands. B&W CM, the older Kef iQ line, and the new Polk LSiM line. Not sure what I will end up with but I am sort of leaning towards the Kefs. I like their sound and there are some good deals on them because they are discontinued...

I haven't heard that KEF line but I've heard good things about it. I'm off to see U2 in your neck of the woods.

Got a second Dell 2408WFP monitor for the PC.

Unforunately, now the Energy RC-50s are unusable in that room as there is no way to get them to image properly.

I am now looking for desktop speakers to replace the Energy RC-50s. Can anyone recommend a good sounding/looking desktop speakers? I need something that can play loud. Them amp I have to power them is a Crown 402D that does 300 watts/channel.

I put the RC50s in the classifieds. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Very clean setup! Have you considered replacing the RC-50s with a pair of RC-10s? You'll have to hunt for them since the RC-10s have been discontinued.

I've heard the RC-10s are AMAZING speakers for the price.
I haven't heard them, but I have read great reviews about them. They originally retailed for about $600 a pair, but were available on closeout sale for $300 a pair at various places until late last year/early this year. They were ideal for those that wanted the Energy Reference Connoisseur series, but could not accommodate tower speakers. From what I have read, the RC-10s have decent bass for their size. A new pair is very hard to find these days - one has to go the used speaker route.

The last picture DrewTT posted with part of the RC-50 peeking over glass table reminded me of the RC-10, which is why I thought of them as an alternative for the 50s.

The RC-10s seem like a great choice. I am really interested in the Paradigm S1. They are the perfect size for my desk and the Beryllium tweeter sounds interesting. Retail for $1,495. If I could score a used set for around $800 that would be perfect.

The other day I replaced the bulb in the TV and wow, what a difference. I had about 8,000 hours on the original bulb. The picture has gotten dimmer and I had to change the iris settings to compensate.

I went with an OEM Philips bulb and now the picture is incredible again. I just love the film look this TV provides. Hopefuly, this TV lasts me for many more years. I really see no reason to upgrade at this point.

I see we have the same taste in subs! Clean setup. Have you considered using the Energy towers as mains in your living room?

Thanks.

I have something else planned for the living room but that's on hold for the time being. The Polks are actually not that bad for movies.

RC-50s are sold. Kind of miss them but they were just not right for that computer setup.

I will be picking up a pair of the Boston E60s. Probably also looking to get a nice sealed sub.

I am planning on wrapping the cherry inserts in carbon fiber since I am a car nut.
