Solid Orange Light on HD70, replaced bulb, now will not power up

I just replaced my second bulb on my HD70 projector. First changeover went perfect. This one, went in just fine, plugged back in and now I have no power whatsoever. All the other electronics plugged into the surge protector are powered, but no power to the projector. Any ideas? Have tried reseating the lamp with no luck. Tried the old lamp, nothing.

Bulb doors have a small piece of plastic on them that hit the trigger point on the projector. If it's broken of not hitting the point correctly the PJ won't fire up. When I worked on Optom H77's I used a Qtip to open the trigger point so I could fire up the projectors with the bulb door and cover off. Look into it.

Do you have the manual? Does the orange light mean there is a problem or is it normal? Most projectors and computers for that matter have some simple troubleshooting indicators so check your manual or download one and look for what the manufacturer uses for trouble indication. This might tell you the lamp door or filter door is not closed etc.

The lamp door trigger switch thing sounds like that might be it.

Try pushing on the door all around the seam of the door. The tab may have layd over on you when it was off or broke off now its not triggering the switch.

It was the trigger door, thanks. Got the projector to fire up, but now it is projecting in black and white! Any ideas how to fix that or is my color wheel toast?

To check the wheel take the bulb out if it's broken you'll see pieces of glass. Lets hope it's a cable connection.

Thanks guitar, I think you are correct. I took the projector off the ceiling mount, and hear what sounds like broken glass moving through the projector.

The good news is that I still have the 3 year extended warranty in effect from when I purchased the projector from Circuit City (still have more than a year left on it). They affirmed that is sounds like the color wheel and are going to either repair or replace it within 10 days of receiving it from me.

I have already received two free bulbs from my extended warranty...so it was definitely a well spent $149. I still have the brand new bulb, and 2 bulbs with about 2000 hours but still work.

For anyone that is interested, I just moved and my HD70 is now throwing a beautiful 140" screen from Bell Expressvu high definition TV and a Blue Ray. Very sweet investment indeed.

Thanks again for all the help!

I had an older low end DLP projector (LP425z) and i took it over to my sisters. A few weeks later when i got it back it threw a B&W image and i was like OH NO!

Come to find out some one jacked around with the input settings and it was in PAL or NTSC or somthing. Wich ever one changes the format and makes it B&W

The first thing i thought was the color wheel had broken because i heard people talk about it. Once i figured it out was a releif.
