Unable to receive signal via HDMI on Sharp Aquos LC42D65U 42" 1080p LCD HDTV

I have Sharp Aquos LC42D65U 42" 1080p LCD HDTV and recently bought Panansonic HDC-TM20K8 Hi-Def Camcorder. I was able to view the videos on LCD TV usig component cable. However, I am unable to view them when I try to connect using the mini HDMI cable.
Is it because the panasonic camcorder needs ViERA TV or AQUOS TV can connect only to the sharp camcorders?
Gurus, please advise, if there is any setup that I am missing. If not, I can still return the camcorder to the seller.

Thanks,

Nik

When the camera is turned on and the HDMI cable is connected are you able to select the HDMI connetion it is connected to as a source on your TV? If so is anything displayed?
Do you really mean you are using a set of componet cables or are you using a composite(yellow plug) video cable?
I could not find a link to your user's manual to find out about outputting its content to a TV and or to a PC using the mini HDMI cable.

What i had to do is go to the SHARP web site and download the firmware, unzip it, and load it in the USB service port using my flash drive (thumb drive). Then all the HDMI ports would work.
