dont mean to double post but have been trying to find an honest answer to a question.I'm not able to physically view a 500m in action to see the amount of reflection or glare.I was able to see a 5020 at my local BB the other day and it looked very reflective. You guys that have the 500m how much is the reflection/glare on these sets.To give you an idea the samsung tv's to me have way too much reflection for my application.I really want to know if i should still consider the 500m based on all the rave here. Also i here night and day settings mentioned but not really sure what or how that applies.thanks

When the 500M is off you can see reflection in the glass, but when it is on I do not have problems with reflectoin. The night and day settings refer to a patch which you install that will allow the 500M to accept ISFccc Day and Night settings. By default, the 500M does not accept these settings.

The 500M's screen is similar to what you see in the store. My 111 sits in direct sunlight and actually isn't that bad...the reflections are less distracting than a semi-matte screen LCD in my opinion. I speak from experience--I tried out a LG LH90 LED in the same spot and the sunlight blur on the screen drove me nuts.

When I click on ISF Day, the extra brightness helps out quite a bit. Haven't had a chance to put my 500M through the same paces, but I would expect the same results.

The ISF modes have to be unlocked/calibrated, but they are great. ISF Day can get pretty bright, helps to cut through ambient light and reflections.

Why not just buy one of the sets that didn't reflect?

In my experience, anything made of glass will, so I don't put lights on in front of the set, but I do use ambient side and back lighting at night. I watch during the day fairly often, though, and I've never been particularly upset about seeing things reflected in the screen, at least no more than I was with any other TV I've owned over the past 40 years. (save for one short-lived LCD whose picture virtually disappeared in a bright room.) The Kuro is a great panel in any light.

just so everyone can get an idea.I have 2 windows on the sides of my wall unit(where tv will go)that face north and 1 window to the east(east wall) which actually has a covered patio roof outside. My kitchen is to the back of the sitting position(high hat lighting)None of the windows have actual direct sunlight coming in,just the reg day light which lights up the room pretty good when the vertical shades are open.
