Not sure what you are asking but according to the manual, it looks like it only concerns analog output (Monitor Out Analog) from analog sources (component video, SVideo, and composite video)?

If Monitor Out setting is set to Analog, press [VCR/DVR] and [RETURN] buttons on the AV receiver at the same time.
Select Skip in the VideoProcessor setting by pressing the [RETURN] button repeatedly on the display.
To reset back to the original setting, press the same button at the same time.
If you select Use, the AV receiver will output video signals from the video processor.

no if you set this it turns off the processing for everything (analog and digital). It is actually the only way I can see where 100% of processing can be completely turned off. The manual doesnt clearly spell this out. I played somemore last night and it appears this sets the processing off globally.

I don't know what you are after but for last years models, it seemed that you needed to have Resolution: Through AND Immediate Display: Off
in order to get 36-bit output without conversion to 30-bit, have you tried that?

What I want is when my oppo sends 36 bit for that to be whats sent to my displays. Today 36 bit out of the oppo shows as 24 bit out to the display with processing on.
I will give that a try and see.

Also, I recall someone mentioning that setting HDMI->x.v.Color: Enable
and was needed as well as Resolution:Through and Immediate Display: Off
and then turning power off/on for his setup.
All my sources deliver 24-bit so I can't try it out myself.

Hi All,
I found this forum very useful, I found out some nice hidden features of my Onkyo PR-SC5507.
Maybe some of you have answer to my problems, or has the same issues.

First: HDMI outputs.
As an introduction I use both output, Main: Projector, Sub: TV, both 1080p/24 compatible. Cables: 1m ultra high speed 28AWG to TV and 10m 1.3 certified to projector. Both works fluently with my DVDO EDGE processor, in all resolutions up to 1080p/24.
With PR-SC5507 the following happens, when videoprocessor is set to USE:
HDMI Main: can output all resolutions, but the picture is very unreliable. Sometimes is OK, but sometimes blinking, sometimes dissorted. I think it can be a frame locking issue, because my projector can display proper input signal frame rate with decimals: when there are problems at 24hz picture the display shows values between 23.7 to 24.2 (I saw already almost all values, 23.7, 23.8, 24.2). If it is 24.0, the picture is nice and stable.
HDMI Sub: no 24 Hz output at all, the Onkyo outputs only 1080p at 60Hz and 576p, that is all.
If videoprocessor is set to "SKIP" things are OK, even HDMI Sub outputs 1080p/24.

Second issue: DSD audio when DAC direct mode is ON. It sends very loud LFE signal to SW, even with DSD 2CH mode, where there is no subwoofer in the signal.

I also made the firmware upgrade 2 days ago, it did not help yet.

Otherwise this unit is amazing, my system sounds like never before, a real WOW

Not sure it helps but I can output 1080p/24 from "HDMI Sub" through a 10m HDMI cable to my Sony Bravia LCD without any problems.
I am letting the Onkyo do the conversion from 480i to 1080p/24.
I don't have a source which outputs 1080p/24 though.

Do you think it can be a hardware issue with mine? Which model do you use?
I also have a Sony Bravia LCD TV, but HDMI Sub does not work. I tried with direct 1080p/24 signal, and upconversion of 576i signals as well from DVD player, but the result is the same: nothing displayed, pisture just blinks

just to be sure I understand: does the HDMI Sub output work when you let the Onkyo convert 576i to either 1080p/24 or plain 1080p?
From what I understand, it does not with either for you, correct?
576i to 1080p/24 "works" but it is jerky and unwatchable for me.
My Sony is KDL-D46000 and it is indicating 1080p24 on the screen.

Well it definately was the HDMI handshake issue not the receiver in general. I have a Motorola 6416III box and it just seem incompatable with the 5007 enough to cause the lack of audio and occasional drops. The service center said if i keep it connected to the box it could eventually blow the HDMI circut. Just a FYI to anyone having problems. I currently have my Cable box connected Component and Optical. All else HDMI. I the receiver still is HDMI to tv.
So really it is a cable box issue. This reciver is working fine with above connection. Just for FYI for anyone having some issues.

ok. I tried all of these and actually have come to 2 conclusions.

1)It was the oppo CS setting that wasnt allowing anything higher than 30 bit. I changed the oppo CS from 4:2:2 to 4:4:4 and 36 bits now gets sent through the onkyo fine. So the power off effected the Oppo and not necessarily the Onkyo

2)However, i did do some other interesting testing just to easse my own mind.
What I found is that no matter what source sends in a 24 bit signal to the onkyo it will always send out 30 bit to my pioneer 141. I confirmed this by having

HDMI from DTV/Oppo player to TV input 6 TV handling all upconversion
DTV YCbcr 24 bits sent YCbcr 24 bits @ display

on it's capabilities to output 36-bit or not?

Yes that is correct. No effect enabled/disabled.

With my setup the oppo only sends out 36 bits when CS is set to 4:4:4 within the oppo menu. The good thing is that the 3007 does pass the higher bit rate when its sent one. That I understand is a good thing. Not sure the benefit unless there was source available to leverage it but I have been told its a good thing.

I believe you are correct the 3007 (video processing on) and the TV must understand each other well enough so that the 3007 always sends out 30 bit no matter if I have x.v.Color enabled or not.

I did one additional test and turned off video processing using {VCR/DVR Return -->"SKIP"} which disables, x.v.Color, Immediate Display and Resolution
This seems to allow source BIT rates to be sent or as the oppo/dtv/xbox360 is sending them.
DTV 1080i/60 YCbcr 24 bits sent YCbcr 24 bits @ display
Oppo 1080p/24 YCbcr 24 bits in YCbcr 24 bits @ display
Oppo 1080p/24 YCbcr 30 bits in YCbcr 30 bits @ display

Hi, I have the 3007 and when I bring up the setup screen on the 3007 and then I check the video resolution coming into my Panisonic 65S1 from the 3007 using HDMI out to the TV it shows 480p coming in to the TV. Is this correct? I thought the output from the 3007 would maybe be 1080p for the GUI or is that wishful thinking. I have the HDMI output set to output 1080p. Is there a setting I am missing or is the GUI limited to 480p.

the GUI is 480p only. However, it can be overlayed onto the actual image if you go into any setup menu and before picking an option hit the enter key. It will super-impose the selection over the image and allow you to see affects to the picture.

Is anybody able to change the receiver settings via web page?
When I go to the Network Setting I get following:
The current page cannot be displayed properly.
Turn the AV receiver off and then back on again, wait a few minutes, and then try connecting again.
If it still doesn't work properly, try resetting the AV receiver.
(Message No.311)
I guess this would be only for changing the network settings, not picture and audio settings and such, am I correct?

Haven't tried resetting the receiver and see if that would help.

I am trying to overlay as you mentioned above but I must be doing something wrong. Every time I hit the setup button I then hit the enter button and I only can see the setup menu, no actual image?

It is from the setup pages where you can modify picture settings,
such as noise reduction, brightness etc, that you can press Enter
and adjust the picture settings while you see how the picture changes.

Picture Adjust
Using Picture Adjust, you can adjust the picture quality and reduce any noise appearing on the screen.
To view the TV picture while setting, press [ENTER]. To return to the previous screen, press the [RETURN] button.

It only outputs plain 1080p, nothing else. No matter, what is the input. Onkyo converts everything (from 576i to 1080p/24) to 1080p properly inside, but can output only plain 1080p.
Read posts above, I saw that some components can hurt the processor, so I disconnected all HDMIs, plus I changed my Blue-Ray player to PS3, made soft and hard reset, but nothing changed

Unless someone else has another idea, I would suggest contacting Onkyo
about this.... But first, maybe the store where you bought it could swap it
for another sample to see if it behaves the same?
