Having a new problem with my 3007, it wont store my level settings for my subs. I turn them down and store to memory and when i power cycle it goes back to what Audyssey had set.....

Anyone had this problem?

What do you mean by "store them to memory"? There's no need to store anything - when you go into the setup menus to change the sub trim, all you need to do is to set the trim to what you want and then exit the menu.

I went the extra step of storing settings, I know it normally saves settings, but after it kept dumping my sub trim settings I went the extra step of storing them to memory.

After I cycle to and from standby the setting have been reset. It stores my crossover settings and other settings but the sub trim is different for some reason.

My unit does this as well. It always has. I use the ORemote to adjust it depending on movies or music levels, but it always resets to Audyssey levels on a power cycle.

Hi NicksHitachi, for it to save you'll need to go into Level Caibration found under Speaker Setup menu and not the Audio Option button.

Interesting because that's the best comprable unit I can find. Yea, I really like the sound I get from the Onkyo. Hopefully it won't be brutal to repair. I did some more testing, and component video works just fine, so I'm confident it's an HDMI issue... As long as it's not ridiculous to replace, or hopefully once it's at a repair center and they can see it's the HDMI board, maybe I can coax Onkyo to repair it.

I've even played with the idea of getting a cheaper AVR and using it like a pre-amp to use for video switching, etc and still using my 3007 to drive my speakers, if the repair ends up being ridiculous.

I was just about to purchase my rear-surrounds this summer as well, there goes the AV budget

Update, I was able to get in touch with a supervisor after my phone calls and emails were being ignored- Onkyo agreed to fix the unit under warranty biggrin.gif

Now I can get those rear surrounds I had been talking about. I will say, I started shopping around AVRs in case this didn't work out which is a dangerous thing to do. Those new Pioneer Elites look pretty sweet....

I just noticed over the last couple weeks that my video upconversion is pretty jittery.  I remember the up-conversion being stellar before I had my unit fixed.  I'm going to do some more testing but it was very noticable and distracting to the point I turned off the up conversion.......

That's outstanding! Glad to hear they are going to fix it.

Going on two years with my Onkyo 3007 with no issues. WIth that said, I'm moving it to my bedroom and upgrading to the 5009. I hope the 5009 behaves itself like the 3007 has.
Well, my 3007 didn't behave, I dropped it off for warranty repair 5 days before it was due to expire... no sound from Zone 2 or the main Zone, no ethernet connection while in standby.

Waiting on the results.
Was anyone able to pass 1080p 3d thru a TX-NR5007, maybe had to put the receiver in bypass mode? or it has been confirmed TX-NRXXX7 won't support/can't handle 3D?

I just got my 3007 back from service--HDMI board was replaced. The symptom was no video. Onkyo covered the repair although I was several months off warranty. It took about 2 weeks -- nice to have it back. The repair shop said it was one chip that overheats / goes bad, and that lots of units need repair.

My 3007 is in for its 3rd repair. First 2 times they replaced components on hdmi board...this time they are replacing the hdmi board. It was ordered on friday so hopefully it will be back to me soon....tv sound sux. I had no fans on my unit but will get some now and see if that helps.....my warranty expires in october

Hopefully mine wont follow suit, thats what they did to mine! Did you have to pay for shipping 3x!? Thats close to $70 each!

Dude on your third time you qualify for replacement under lemon law!

I had my 5007 stored in the closet for a couple of months. I recently pulled it back out and plugged it in and now I have no power. The standby light isn't even lit. Any suggestions to try?

Well I have had my 3007 for a couple years now, I just turned it on (it's barely used) and I have no sound from any of my devices! mad.gif I suspect it is the problem I see mentioned here, is there certain things I can do to try and get it back or verify that it needs repair work? I have tried unplugging it, turning it on and off etc, the audible clicking seems to be gone?

I would save yourself a lot of time and frustration and take it in. Sometimes unplugging all power will bring it back for a short time, but when it happens again...

After my HDMI board was replaced, the unit has run fine withou a hitch for well over 14 months now WI everyday use. The unit also ran cooler, so the HdMI board must have contributed a lot to the heat on these units.

One of my deciding factors when I was picking an AVR brand was a local authorized repair center that had good reviews. Luckily for me there is a very good one local in Indy.

Good luck. Looks like Onkyo has been covering these items under warranty.

Just endorsing btinindy's comment. Save yourself the hassle and send it in for repair under warranty. It's a thoroughly well documented issue (see this thread) and Onkyo understand the problem and are fixing it for those who have problems.  There's nothing you can do yourself - all the 'home cures' such as unplugging etc work for a brief time and then the problem resurfaces.

Makes sense, I was hoping to avoid it as my 3007 came from the US so i doubt the canadian depots are going to give me warranty. I have no choice though so I will call around see what I can find out. I am in Calgary and don't see any local repair depots according to the website..... Thanks everyone for your help.

They might do - worth asking. Onkyo are aware of this problem and do seem to be stepping up to the plate over it. Good luck with it whatever you decide.

Well it's all good, got the visa extended warranty which kicks in anyway. Dropped it off to them so I will post my results

Two weeks at the repair center and they haven't even looked at it yet. I didn't know onkyo had an extended warranty option on these. In hindsight I would have bought it for 2 more years of coverage given all these 'just out of warranty' issues. I appreciate them working with me, but I'm afraid my local repair center is going to be the rate limiting step. It's amazing to see all these issues cropping up now. I just bought some more fans to keep this thing super cool when I get it back.

My repair center is always like that (Dallas/FT Worth area). It was about 4 weeks total before it was ready. I keep a back up receiver for just that purpose.

Exactly what I took my 3007 in for 3 weeks ago... still haven't heard back from them. (maybe they lost it?) tongue.gif

BTW, the audible clicking are the relays that contorl the sound output, again just like mine...

My Onkyo 5007 is currently under repair for more then 3 months a broken HDMI-board, symptoms: no sound after turning the device on from stand-by. A problem which is very commen as it seems to be for this range of receivers. Since this is the second time they are going to replace the HDMI board, and it is an issue mentioned a lot above I am not very confidend this is going to solve te problem. It is a matter of time before the problem appears again, above a repair for the 3rd time is mentioned!

I think Onkyo should offer 3007/5007 owners who suffer HDMI-board problems an arrangement to replace it for a onkyo TX-NR 5009.

You have my vote for this! Of course I am a little biased, having a 3007 in the shop with 'no sound's issues amount other things!

Although I have concerns about Onkyo QA these days, I would take a 3009/5009 as a replacement for my 3007... biggrin.gif

Wow, I just noticed your join-date and then the number of posts, you don't get here often, too bad it is to tell us about bad news, hopefully Onkyo will make it right for you..

Hi Guys,

So I just got my NR5007 back after suffering the hdmi board failure symptoms. THey replaced the board, so they say, and now I cant get any of the HDMI sources to stick. The hdmi just blinks, no pictures, intermittant sound. They said in the paperwork the firmware was updated, and it doesnt seem like any of my settings were changed. Anyone have an idea of something that i should be checking before i call back Onkyo and demand that they replace the unit?

Hmmmm, unless you have never upgraded the firmware there hasn't been a new release in a couple of years, fall of 2010.

So considering the results of the repairs (if they really did replace the HDMI board), just call Onkyo, time for them to step up to offer a replacement unit...
