Got my 3007 today, and it is, in fact, a 3007B stock- the box says 1 yr warranty, but I'm guessing I'm on my own from this point.

I hooked up the Sat box and my plasma just to test it today before I go all gung-ho hooking it up, setting it up, Audessy etc and so far so good. Still runs pretty warm tho... I have three fans on a thermostat dedicated to it, one 'push' fan on the bottom, two 'pull' fans on top, and one 44FCM fan at the top of my AV rack that runs 24/7. Hopefully this one will last a bit longer...

The Reon chip on top of the HDMI board is totally different from my old one. I wonder if the chip was the problem. That is where most of the heat came from.

interesting about the chip as HP and Dell both had a problem with the video chip on their laptops. Ended up with a class action lawsuit. You could revive them by having them reflowed or baking your motherboard in an oven...and Im not kidding....I did it on 3 of them. I bet you are thrilled to have it back. Turn everything off when connecting/disconnectiong those hdmi cables smile.gif

I wish that I would have taken a picture of my original HDMI board, when I get back home I can take a hi-res picture of the replacement board...

Hey, if anybody has a original HDMI still in their 3007 maybe the could pull the cover off and take a good photo to share with us?

What has the turnaround time been like for the rest of you guys? Onkyo had me send my 3007 to Alltech earlier this month, and they've had it since the 13th. I just spoke to a woman on the phone and she said nobody had even looked at it yet; it's normally 10-14 business days before they look at the product, and that presently they have a 10-day backlog. That's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I tried emailing Onkyo earlier this week to see if they were able to provide me with a status update, but no surprise there, they didn't ever email me back.

My 3007 was sent in because it would begin to produce video artifacts on HDMI sources after running for a few minutes.

10-12 days! Ha-ha... I didn't get a call to pick it up for 7 weeks! tongue.gif

The HDMI board was on back order for the entire time, this was confirmed by both the service depot and Onkyo.
two months to the day was my turn around:
Dropped it off at the service center.
Two weeks to get them to look at it.
Two weeks for the part to come in.
One week to figure out the parts that came in didn't fix the problem and waiting for more parts.
3 weeks for Onkyo to test and ship me a replacement. once I complained that it was taking so long.

Good luck. Your problems sounds identical to mine, it would work for a minute or two and then tons of artifact and eventually the picture would freeze up.

3 times and every time it was 1 month from the day i shipped until it was back at my door....United Radio..NJ

I took my TX-NR3007 into the nearest CERTIFIED SERVICE CENTER which happened to be ABL Electronic Services, Inc. located in Madison Heights, MI 48071. Phone number is (248) 588-6663 and Fax number is (248) 577-1336. He stated that they service about 90%of the Onkyo's sold in this portion of the US. He was well aware of this "No Sound" issue that I recently started experiencing. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He said that as soon as opened up the unit, ran tests to diagnose the root cause of my sound issues, and determined which soundboard or parts were required that it should not take much longer than a week or so. I will be crossing my fingers on that claim. I am trying to stay positive with this repair. He stated that as far as he knew there was NO NATIONAL BACK ORDER on the sound board for this receiver. He also stated that the new board was in fact a different part number all together. Sure wish Onkyo tech line could have answered that simple question. I just wish that I would have gotten a little more than 2-3 months of use out of this receiver before it bit the dust. Good Luck to everyone else out there experiencing the same issues. One last note---He said no one has ever returned a unit back to him after the full sound board was replaced with SOUND RELATED ISSUES!! That was good to hear.

Yes +1 please!

When mine was repaired they replaced "an ic chip" and "capacitors" so i dont know if that IC chip was the processor chip or not......

Found this thread on my way to the 5008 forum. Purchased new in Novermber 2010.

Had the No Sound issue recently. Took it to the nearest service center, funky little place in CT but authorized. A week later he said he'd asked that the hdmi board be replaced. That was approved, but then was told that it was on back order.

Going to call them tomorrow to try to get a firmer timeframe, may also start yapping directly at Onkyo.

Status at ABL Service center has changed to parts ordered 07/30/2012 Parts info: 50454 Due 08/06/2012. Does anyone out there know what this part # 50454 actually is? I hope this is a new HDMI board. I guess I will also have to find out whether the actual PART IS ON BACK ORDER AS SOME PEOPLE HAVE STATED.
See post #4541 above, as mentioned mine is a 3007...

I contacted ABL Electronic Services this AM and was told that the replacement HDMI board had been ordered and should arrive around 08/06/12. I asked him if this board was on back-order and he stated that he would not know until this ordered board did not arrive on the 6th of the month. I asked if he could verify with the manufacturer the status on these boards and once again he said that not until they were considered late. So I will be playing the waiting game until next Tuesday to see what happens next. Would calling Onkyo's Customer Service be of any use at this time. I still have never been able to get a live individual on the phone. I have tried several times over the past two weeks to get through to someone.
When I was waiting for the HDMI board to be replaced on my 3007, calling in didn't seem to help much, Onkyo can likely confirm that the board is on order but may not be willing to admit to a backlog situation. The repair facility that ordered the part for my unit waited over a month for it to arrive.

Having said all of this I am not sure that this could be considered unusual for a device that is over 2 years old, parts can become scarce especially if there is a run on them... rolleyes.gif I am not saying that this a great situation, waiting and all, but as I work in the service industry I know that sometimes things can take time, and we did not ante up extra money for 1 week turn around or something similar. Just saying.

I just got off the phone with Mike at Onkyo. He confirmed that the "HDMI PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD" is readily available in the US ONKYO warehouses for shipment to service centers. He confirmed the part # for my TX-NR3007 as 1B234557-1A_0338A2. This is the exact same part # as the picture above that Al Sherwood provided us with in POST # 4541. The underscore followed by numbers and letter depicts a new part number and change from the original board used in our receiver. He said that there is no truth that these boards are on back order. I asked if they were in stock and ready to ship immediately to the service centers and he confirmed that they were indeed ready to ship and that they had a very large quantity of them on hand. Who knows what to believe when it comes to this issue. He definitely stated that this problem is not an epidemic and will be handled on a case to case basis. I asked if he knew what percentage of these boards failed. He stated that he was not privy to those specs but believes it to be a very low number of isolated cases.

Does anyone know if this will this be the same replacement part part for the 5007? (1B234557-1A_0338A2) My 5007 recently started to have the "No sound" issue, and i have sent the reciever in for repair..... Thank you
post #4552 of 4660
Can add me to list of No Sound issue.

Called ABL and they would not provide me a cost of replacing the board as my unit went out of warranty in April 2012. Does anyone know what cost of repair is for new baord as I want to use this as worst case scenario?

welcome to the forum, sorry it was to enquire about a failed receiver!

The HDMI board in the 5007 is different then the 3007 by virtue of the number of HDMI ports on it...

That makes no sense, they should be able to give you a very firm estimate, they would have a service charge and a cost for the HDMI board... but don't jump to that just yet.

In the 807 thread was a link to not only to a service request from but the Onkyo forum where you can get additional information, specifically it mentioned that Onkyo was honoring this repair even though the warranty was recently expired.

Thank you for the info Al....didn't realize the 3007 had a different HDMI setup. OH, well. I guess I'lll see what the service center says when the unit gets there.....

I just took my 3007 in to ABL today for the 3rd time in the last 3 months. The first 2 times they were really quick with getting it fixed. They told me 10 days when I dropped it off and they called me on the 10th day saying it was ready. The first 2 times they replaced the HDMI board and it's showing the same symptoms this time as it has the past 2 times so they told me to call up Onkyo about getting it replaced. Unfortunately parts and service was already closed tonight so I have to wait until Monday to call them and see what they do.

Just getting a 3009 would have been a huge score, but to get a 3010... Actually, I honestly prefer the 3009 over the 3010 as I am far more likely to use the Multichannel Analog Input on the 3009 than I am to want or need to run an 11.4 HT as the 3010 offers. Regardless, moving up to XT32/SubEQ HT is a huge score. When my 3007 failed last year and I received a 3008 I was quite happy because of XT32/SubEQ HT as well.

Got my Receiver back, new HDMI board installed. They charged me 600 and change, luckily visa is refunding it as part of the ectended warranty. Cant say enough about using visa to buy things anymore this will be the second claim in 2 years. Last one was a samsumg 55 inch tv they refunded. Anyway, very little clicking now from the receiver almost in audible...
