Hey Everyone,

I've been trolling on the site for sometime now, however I just can't seem to figure out what I want..

If this was car audio, I'm all over it... But I'm fairly new to HD. I'm not looking for an htib, however a pieced together kit with you folks advice.

The room is a 12 x 14 carpeted space with bare walls on all 4 sides. The TV is a 42" 1080P Toshiba Regza hung on one of the 12ft walls. I also have an LG BD390 and a XBOX 360 on a shelf just under the TV. The system will be used for casual TV watching, gaming and blu ray viewing. There could be some music played from time to time.

I'd like my budget for the system to stay under $750.00.

What is the recommendation of the gurus for the nest bang for the buck. Is a 7.1 system to much for this space?

I guess I am looking for an HTIB, just one designed by individuals much more knowledgeable than I, as I feel I could get a much better quality/upgradeable system for under $750.00 than what I would get for an htib.

Options of different models for speakers, subs, receivers would be greatly appreciated.

That's a small room, I'd be willing to bet you don't have the space for 7.1. What kind of speakers do you think you'd like...satellite, in-walll, on-wall, bookshelf, tower...?

Yup, to start I would say go 5.1
That way yo ucan afford better equipment.
You might even try 3.1 first.(front stage)

I figured a 7.1 would be too much.

I would like to utilize on wall speakers. Stands would not work for me up front or for the side speakers..

I'm not a big fan of on-wall type speakers because there's always a compromise with them. However, you have a small room and music isn't a priority so you might be fine with one of these systems. A few to look at might be:

The NHT or Energy will be more expensive in the end but they should be a bit better because they have bigger drivers while still keeping with the on-wall form-factor.

Just a few speaker ideas, you'd still need a receiver...

Im cool with satellite speakers as well..

Again, this is really what YOU folks would do, within my budget or close too it. I really have no clue what I'm doing with home theater...

You guys tell me what I should be looking to purchase...

Sorry man, I can't tell you exactly what's best for you in your room with your budget. I can only point you in some general direction based only on what I know from what you say. In the end you need to do some work on your own and figure it out if you want the best for yourself. I hope someone else can help....

I'm sorry, what I meant isn't what I wrote.... I need you folks to tell me what you would do so I can make the best educated purchase I can, from the direction i get from other people who are in the know.
