UD8004

Interested in reading some user reports on this.

I wonder what load and play times are like on this player ?

Probably very similar to the Denon 4010UD, they look like they share the same core Drive and core processing.

Marantz UD8004:

Denon DBP-4010UD:

I'm interested to hear of user comparisons, it looks like the Marantz has an upgraded PSU and Analogue Audio section but no DL4.

Need your thoughts before spending $$$$

I own a Marantz BD8002 Blu-ray player. (I run it through a Marantz SR7002 receiver)

Marantz has told me that switching out my player for their new UD8004 I would notice an improvement in sound.

This is something that I would do IF what they say is true.

Please, your thoughts

Does anyone know a regionfree hack for the 8004?

The "old" one out on the web stopped working after I did the latest updates.

GDay to all

Purchased the Marantz UD8004 Universal Disc Player recently along with some other HT equipment not really knowing much about the HT caper.

Have it hooked up in a temp HT room with the Marantz AV7005 Pre/Pro via hdmi. I have had no issues with the unit, it has operated fantastically from day one.
I have started this thread to hopefully talk to others who own or have previously owned the UD8004 and any others who wish to join in on how they have connected their unit up to their AVR or Pre/Pro.

Are you letting the player do the video and audio and passing it through your AVR or Pre/Pro?
Are you letting your AVR or Pre/pro do all the work?
Is your player just doing the video and your AVR or Pre/pro doing the audio?
Is your player just doing the audio and your AVR or Pre/pro doing the video?

I'm asking these above questions cause i'm totally confused as to which way is best to get the best possible video and audio.

Keeping in mind i am new to this (have learned some things but got along way to go) and using the UD8004 only to play Blu ray and DVD movies at this stage. May one day venture into multi channel SACD.

Looking forward to any replies and advice

I actually inquired Marantz about this.

They replied when using the 8004 with the 7005 for audio the best result would be to hook up 7.1 cabling and let the 8004 do the remix.

Hello,
I was hoping someone can help me with this issue. starting last night, my ud 8004 won't allow the menu functions to operate. So I can not play or set the audio. I have tried with the remote and the player. Both CDs and DVDS play fine so I know it is not the connections if that would even be a possibility.

Has anyone had this issue before?

Tim

Never seen this problem. Try a hard reset first by unplugging the player. If that doesn't work, try a factory reset.
