Plasma Burn in: Movies???

I just bought a new Samsung plasma. I'm running it at 50% contrast to break it in right now... But I want to watch a movie right now.

I bought ghost busters for bluray, and for some reason it plays with black bars on the top and bottom of the display. Is this a risk for burn in?

Is there a way to get rid of the black bars?

Will the black bars be an issue after 100 hours of break in???

Ghostbusters (like most movies) was shot in a wider aspect ratio than your TV's 16:9. No big deal, and I wouldn't worry about burn in. You might be able to see a faint afterimage after watching a long movie but it should quickly fade. After a few months of owning the set, most like that won't happen anymore.

It has black bars because it is in 2:35 aspect ratio. getting rid of them would distort the picture.

Right, I just wanted to make sure the black bars would hurt my "Break In" period.

Are newer movies shot in 16:9???

There is no standard. Some are 2:35 others are 16:9. It just depends. It has nothing to do with old or new.
