Netflix hangs - doesnt play movie / DRM issue? VMC 32bit

Has anyone had a problem with Netflix watch now? I'm really not sure what happened but when I try and watch movies via Netflix in MC it just hangs on a red screen with the netflix logo in the middle without doing anything else. I can browse all the movies etc and the queue but nothing will play. However, it will play in a browser.

I think it may be a security issue because my DCT and other tuners stopped working due to copyright issues at the same time. I can set the tuners up again in VMC and they work fine but no go with Netflix.

I had an ATI update go massively wrong, had the netflix entry point disappear but have gotten it all working since (except the netflix watch instantly).

Other things I have noticed.
When I try to watch the set up videos in VMC it crashes.
When I try to adjust the display settings in VMC it crashes.
I've run mcupdate -u from command prompt (as admin) it never finishes.

Changes that were made:
New ATI driver, tried rolling back - no good.
Installed MyMovies3.
Installed new vista codec package. The Shark007 latest.

Not really sure where to start trouble shooting. I've reinstalled silverlight several times, turned off UAC and windows defender, check regoinal settings, and reinstalled the netflix plugin.

Any suggestions? (Even if it's buy windows 7 and install that )

Thanks in advance!

I'm having the exact same problem with Netflix (hangs in a red screen through VMC, works fine in a browser). However, I haven't changed anything since it last worked (last Sunday).

Hrm... we might be stuck waiting for a silverlight upgrade or something.

ATI just had an update go through with windows update and now it works fine. I'll see if I can get the update and driver information and post it here.

same problem here... but the only system change i've made in the past few days was the "Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista (KB976749)" that showed up in Windows Update a few days ago.

i tried accessing the Watch Now feature on my Mac and it worked fine, as well as watching via Firefox on my HTPC, so this is definitely a Vista Media Center issue. i also tried uninstalling Silverlight and then reinstalling, but i'm still having the same problem...

Is this an ATI issue?

I have ATI HDMI and Tuner cards with Vista and have the exact same issue.

I think it might be. After netflix started working I had to re-setup the tuners and it's not detecting my DCT now lol.

It may have been a combonation of both. I'm going to look at the update history now.

Looking at my history, I did that update too. Though, I am running an ATI 4670 on one computer, and an ATI integrated-graphics motherboard on the other, so I can't rule that out either (Vista on both).

yes, i do have an ATI card in my HTPC, so that could be the issue... although, if that were the cause, then why would Watch Now still work via a browser?
