ps. i really love this TV. keeps growing on me.
Glad you found settings that you like. I am still tinkering with mine. I tried to mess with the sharpness a bit, but I found that +5 was too high.
Don't know if it is set specific, but perhaps the issue with +5 sharpness may not be noticed unless you view a specific video field as I did. I was watching Bank Job in Blu-ray and there is a quick snap of a scene where everyone is meeting together to discuss how to get into the safe and they test some sort of torch thing that can cut concrete. Anyway, Jason Statham is wearing some sort of gray overcoat. The lines on the coat are actually closely knit white/gray and black threading and I just happened to be messing with the sharpness just before this scene.
When the camera angle turned up over Jason's shoulder showing the texture pattern of his coat, I noticed a glowing/rainbow effect. (Best way I can describe it.) I believe this was due to the effect the closely knit / parallel / textured pattern of thread work in his coat had in direct correlation to the setting for sharpness on the LCD. I rewound the scene multiple times and played with the setting some more, and found that on a 0 setting, the details were still visible, but that glowing/rainbow effect was gone.
I only noticed this issue because of this particular scene, so I am unsure if it would be noticed elsewhere, but it was detracting enough for me to turn the sharpness back down to 0.
I had a similar experience when using THX DVD to adjust sharpness, which is why I had mine set to 0 in the first place.
Just an afterthought on sharpness...
Still playing with other settings.
Active Contrast is now off on my set as I noticed some details disappearing to the adjustments made in the contrast levels when it would adjust itself.
