AV123 LS6 or DALI Euphonia MS4?

Hi All,

I unfortunately recently had all my audio equipment stolen. I previously had a pair of DALI Euphonia MS4s along with a CS 4 for center and RS3s for rears.

I am looking to replace the system now. I was going to go ahead and get the DALI setup again as it has continued to be one of my favorites. However, I am intrigued by the AV123 LS6s. I have not listened to a line array before.

Has anyone heard both the DALI MS4s and the LS6s? Any opinion on which you like more and why? Does the LS6 have the same "airy" quality as the DALIs?

Thanks.

I love Dali's, not familiar with av123 (other than they are pretty and some ppl love them). I do suspect you might be interested in Salk Audio Song Tower's with ribbon tweeters (I haven't heard them, but can read charts and do see similarities to Dali w/much better woodwork).

The LS6 design/performance is completely different then the Dalis or even the Song Towers mentioned.

Agarg, what are your goals?

I have not heard the DALIs or the LS6s but I have heard line arrays and they are in a completely different world then any regular 3-way type design.

I've actually heard the songtowers and the HT3, and had a chance to demo them at my home, but I preferred the Euphonias.

I am basically looking for a nice 2 channel setup for classical, female vocal, and rock music mostly. The high end and midrange are def more important to me than the low end. I am not looking to play anything real loud either. I want something that sounds coherent and is not fatiguing with good imaging. I have found I very much like the sound of ribbon tweeters and the highs that they produce. I've tried the DALI's and loved 'em, but wanted to know what a line array can bring to the table.

This piques my interest - I am eager to learn more about line arrays as it seems that the technology has advanced (or at least things have gotten smaller) in this area.

As a matter of perspective, how did Martin Logan's compare with Dali's & Salks within the same price points?

Thanks!

I much preferred the Salk's and the Dali's over the Martin Logans. The small sweet spot of the MLs just didn't do it for me. Also I found the low end lacking and the highs not as airy. There was also almost a muddied sound to them in my perspective. This, however, is all from memory when I went on my speaker hunt all of last summer and auditioned tons of speakers before settling on the DALI. Unfortunately, I listened to no line arrays at that time.

Can't comment on the LS6 but you couldn't have described the MS4s any better. I've had them for about 5 years now and the midrange is fantastic, very organic. The low-end isn't too shabby either. My choice of music is about 80% jazz.

I hate to be the one to suggest something else but I am a dealer for Dali and Revel and I think you should listen to a pair of the Revel Performa F52 speakers.

They aren't as pretty as the Euphonia's in the Alpi finish but the sound is worth a listen if you can. We have the Performa M22 speakers beside a pair of Helicon 400 MKII and although the sound is different, the Revel's are prefered over the Dali's.
