With two subs you shouldn't be having to boost that low unless you are getting some modal cancellation which would imply poor placement (I know sometimes you have no choice).

Having such a large boost so low is very likely to cause you issues, it may be worth double checking with the installer it isn't a typo in the document?

Any kind of boost below 100Hz is generally a no-no but +10dB @ 25Hz is pretty excessive. Even if you don't have it loud enough to clip you are seriously eating into your available headroom.

I would definitely get this looked at as at the very least you aren't going to be getting the best from your subs.

Is anyone using iRule PEQ on/off?

For some reason using the iRule's ADA codes this does not seem to work for me. I can Recall PEQ 1,2,3,4 on my IPad

Hi Mate,

I have it working, remind me via email and I'll send you the code tomorrow.

Hi Will,

I thought I would post it here in case someone else needed it as it isn't in the set online IIRC. I'll have to share my updated list at some point...

PEQ ON
\\xFF\\x03\\x00\\x15\\x40\\x58\\xFF

PEQ Off
\\xFF\\x03\\x00\\x15\\x41\\x59\\xFF

Hi some advice if I may.....

I should be taking delivery of my balanced Mach 4 this week. Fan mod being fitted as I type....

But as I am going balanced I am changing over to xlr cables.

Now my query is around the sub channel. I currently use an audyssey sub eq which has RCA inputs. Also my sub only has RCA inputs.

So my question is, do I just use the RCA sub out from the rhapsody and use all other channels balanced. Or do you think i would benefit from using an xlr to RCA cable or even an adapter so that I am using the better, balanced outputs for all channels.
just use the unbalanced output; less issues all around.

Thank you dan. Saves on buying more cables.

Not sure if it was a typo or not. I doubt it but no matter, I can't really do anything about it because my subs are behind the screen wall on the left and right and really can't be moved.

Wicked room CCLAY. But your ceiling is just something else.

Oh how I long for a room like that.

Thanks. It took me several years to complete the whole thing but it is totally done now.

Cheers Adam.

Been that busy PEQ EQ, my heads in a spin.

Can you point me in the right direction Adam.

I guess your using Mani's, 'ADA Mach4 Feedback - Mani/ Textual,2,3?

Like I said, I have the PEQ & Mode, also have volume working, just can't seem to get the inputs to show

You have to name all your inputs in iRule the same as you named them on the ADA or it won't see them.

So in the feedbacks menu you would edit Mani's something like this but with your input names:

ADA Mach4 Feedback - Mani
+Numeric
-Textual
--Input
----HTPC
----Linn DS
----PCH

etc.

Hope that helps

Are there any issues with the PEQ?

I ask this as I have just spent the last two hours going round in circles, I have found when adjusting the PEQ, I can adjust the bass FQ, but as soon as I start to adjust the speakers I get no bass output to the sub?

Reset all the Frequency's and I get bass output to my sub

I had something similar to this, check your levels, if they are greater than '0' reduce them. I found if you have your output levels too high (even as low as +7dB) the output signal to the sub seems to be clipped.

Not 100% sure what is happening but try these things:

1. No boosts at all on sub or speaker channels.
2. Make sure all levels are below 0dB.

The ADA has much higher output levels than most Processors so it shouldn't be a problem keeping the levels lower as long as you adjust them all relative.

Hope that helps.

It is an odd one and it took me ages to work it out, my pain your gain

Glad that works though, I was wondering if it was unique to my setup. The ADA is a great Processor but it has plenty of undocumented 'foibles'.

Yep, big thank you Adam, it was starting to drive me crazy!!!

Having spent a few days last week running REW, I was really looking forward to Friday night film night with my 'new' 7.1 PEQ in hand............... Fired the amp up, got stuck into the film, after a shrt while thought hey up, somthing's a miss, no bass, and always after having a couple of beers........ Boy, my OH loves me
post #1644 of 2080
That is an odd issue. And something that I never noticed with mine. And I have boosts of upto 6-8 db on certain frequencies. Most odd.

Well I now have my crm4 in place.

Was it worth the upgrade. YES!

I am not even using xlrs yet, so just using its RCA outputs. Not even got the peq uploads as yet.

You can clearly hear its based on the same engine as the suite 7.1hd, but with a level of refinement. It all seems that little bit more fluid. Perhaps eeking out a little more detail.

I haven't had a serious movie session yet, have underworld, haywire and the grey set for the weekend. But on my normal dem clips I would say surround steering is a little smoother and again the rears seem a little more alive than on the suite 7.1hd.

But it's the addition of better pre and post dsp stages that must be delivering the sonic improvements.

And the 7.1 direct bypass is superb. I actually think this sounds better than my linn strait into the power amp.

Just everything about the crm4 seems better and nicer to use than the suite 7.1hd.

I honestly didnt think it would be much of an improvement on the suite 7.1hd, but I am quite shocked. The crm4 still has all the dramatics and cinematics of the suite but with a musical edge that does not detract from the movie impact, if anything it seems to help bring the music soundtracks to greater life, or more prominent in the surround mix of a movie.

And I thought quad bypass sounded good on the suite, well, its something else on the crm4.

Really looking forward to spending a full day or two on peq, phasing and general speaker adjustments.

Ha ha....

Sorry Angeleyes, but should you even be in this thread..... Touché!

So, I'll upgrade my subs if you would build em for me. Your subs are beautiful. But in all seriousness, there is noubt wrong with the ASW 850 I just need another one or 3. Lol

Now stop picking on my equipment.... You have already upset my denon into submission, haha. You'll get me in trouble with the mrs.
Maybe I should be selling this stuff, perhaps I missed my vocation
post #1650 of 2080
You would have a crm4 in no time if you retailed them gorgeous subs of yours. I would buy just the cabenits alone. Can tell that design is a major part of your life....... I have the creativity and design abilities of an amoeba.
