I do not doubt that your Classe sounds good to you and I do not have a doubt that it's 3x's large case allows Classe to do more shielding and add more stuff inside to deal with the switching power supply issues (if any).
But it is fair to look at a design and component choices and ask real questions as to those choices. It is not bashing or promoting one brand over another unless it is seen to bring about less than ideal results.
Let's be honest here. Most folks have fluffy to look at rooms with all kinds of sonic issues because of their room constraints and design choices. In these less than optimal rooms most stuff will sound about the same. Even fine.
But I have to say that when I saw this ADA BLADE I was concerned. It flies in the face of typical common high end design. I have not used it and so I cannot verify one way or the other but I can point out that making it as small as they did will limit what they can do in this tiny case. I have to wonder why they would limit themselves from the get go?
Is it a marketing thing like Bose does? Smaller is easier to sell to the wife unit as it is easier to hide. She hates to see gear, so it makes some sense here. But I thought this was more about sonic purity.
Am I the only one here that sees this small form potentially constraining? Perhaps even harming? Now add cheaper and smaller switching power supply(s) and less room in the box to fix these known issues and, well, you see what I mean.
I think it is more than fair to offer up real world potential issues in a discussion about a product. It would seem though that most want to ignore these potential issues and that is their choice.
Is there a FULLY balanced version of this? I do not mean the add on converter box, as that cannot be true fully balanced. This is telling to me what they think about fully balanced design and how they in fact do not get it but want to appear as informed to the unknowing.
Unlike Jeff and his crapping on the Theta threads I came here to see what he was all hot and bothered about. With very little effort I see "potential" issues and these are just the surface. I do not see SOTA here just another choice, IMO. I thought it would be fair to point out a couple of things to add balance to the discussion. Often these threads turn into fanboy types of discussions. I am sorry to rain on your fanboy parade. I will leave you folks to it. Have fun with your new toy and I will watch how it turns out.
My guess is Jeff will be back to his friends loaner Lexicon in about 2 years waiting for some other brand to deliver on the promise of what? O, I know a flashy new brochure to read. O goodie. How exciting!
