Scavenger Pro is pretty good, as it works like bandoleer (sp?) in extending the size of your clip, which can be very helpful if you tend to do a lot of spraying and praying like me.

Excellent. Scavenger is going to be added to a couple of my classes tonight. I've been wondering what happend to bandolier, as it used to be a favorite in COD4.

There is so much customization of classes in this game that I haven't spent much time trying everything out yet. Been like a little kid on Christmas and immediately jumping into games, only slightly modifying classes in between matches.

Hm, that's unfortunate you can't see clearly in the game. Of all the reasons I could blame my repeated death streaks on, poor graphics is not one of them. Damn! I see everything clearly...I'm able to pick guys off from across the map, and see them easy enough. Try adjusting your sharpness, maybe. Maybe some of it has to do with what HD resolution settings you run the game on. What's the consensus about it? 720p? 1080i? I'm playing on the 360 and I think it defaults to 1080i, but I'll have to check on it. Anyway, try playing around with some of these setting and see if things improve for you. Let us know.

As for Scavenger, I actually really like it. I was always running out of ammo for the SCAR, and the scavenger perk, especially scavenger pro, really helped out a lot.
1080i is blurry to me in some games. Set it to 720p
post #64 of 2153
I'll try forcing 720p tonight. It's a combo of resolution and you know...the coloring..
I'm using a Pio 111 so it's not some radio shack jaollopy..

There are a few maps that don't seem to be affected as much, like quarry which seems to be one of my favs so far along with farvala

Toughest thing for me to get used to is not being able to hear enemy footsteps ---always getting knifed in the backand not everyone uses the ninja perk, enemy noise is just non-existant in this game.

SurferBud, I have noticed that I am still able to hear enemies and teammates with the surround sound quite well. I am not saying your set-up is wrong, but I can definitely tell when someone is creeping up.

I hear people sometimes. I just think everybody uses ninja now.

On an unrelated note, has anybody unlocked and used the AK47 yet?

I have a few friends who have complained about the overall quietness of nearby footsetps etc, all of our setups couldn't possibly be wrong. Maybe those sounds just get drowned out by the other gunshots and explosions but I don't think so.

I picked it up off the ground and it's a beast. Really nice iron sights too. I can understand why it's the last gun to open in the game.

I think the problem is more people are using Ninja Pro in this game then they were using Dead Silence in the others, so it seems more pronounced. Those without it sound normal to me.

I found my balance to Wasteland:
UMP45 - Holo & Silencer
PP2000 Silenced
Bling
Cold Blooded
Ninja

I must have knifed 10 snipers in one match last night. I think I finished 17-2.

I also have been using the TAR lately as well. Once I got past the awful red dot sight, this thing became a beast. Great for the urban maps.

For one of my favourite classes, I'm using the ninja pro perk (gives you almost silent footsteps) and now it's like everyone around me has turned into giants, with big thudding steps. I can hear someone coming at least within the range of my heartbeat sensor. In fact, it seems now all I hear are gunshots and footsteps. Give it a try, I think you'll be surprised just how well you can actually hear footsteps with that perk. I even really noticed how loud my own footsteps were when compared to suddenly not really having them.

BTW, cold-blooded pro + ninja pro + silencer + heartbeat sensor = godlike. Especially on Derail and Wasteland. The number of times I've stuck up behind snipers is truly great fun.

**EDIT
Haha, ballen...Looks like we have the same idea for cherry picking snipers in Wasteland!

The AK47 was my favourite gun from COD4. I just loved it. And once I got in golden, it's pretty much all I used. Hey, that makes me wonder if there are golden guns in MW2. Anyone know?

I think I saw a Scar-H gold while watching a killcam replay.
I've completed the M4, and half way trhough the Scarh. I hihgly doubt I'll prestige this time.

I love it! I run like a madman around the perimeter of the map and slice them up. This and Derailed were the two maps I had trouble with getting killed from snipers and helicopters, and the cold blooded perk kills two birds with one stone.

Good question. I'd have to think they'd throw it in here again, but getting there is going to be tough!!! I just got red tiger on my SCAR, and I think I saw that I need 300 head shots to get the fall camo. Multiply that by 6 or 7 guns in the rifle category...ouch!

I will certainly give that perk a try. Going to try your loadout as well even though I'm not a huge fan of the heartbeat sensor...yet.

no matter what map it is i alwys love lightweight pro marsthin pro and cold blood pro

usually use m4 with red dot but lmg works too.
ump or uzi on the smaller maps. its a perfect run and gun setup.
most ppl have trouble with two tjings...either keeoing their reticles on u or getting clean shots off as im aleaya in and out of cover

i dont bother with the heartbeat atuff cause im on top of them before the thing even blips red sharing a tea bag for lunch

That is an evil, evil setup. I played some Capture the Flag yesterday on a team with a bunch of level 25-35's versus some guys who were already in the 20's on Prestige. They had that setup with Akimbo Uzi's and I think they went 19-0 on capturing the flags. Kind of funny to watch them flying around the map so fast - it felt like I was playing Quake or UT. I don't have the desire to play like this, but it would be a useful class to have set up for countering when others do it.

I thought the same about the TAR but the HOLO sight is a big improvement. It changes from a round sight to a square sight with much better field of vision.
The TAR is now my go to weapon. At first I was a little iffy on it, but after getting used to it I've gotten into a bit of a groove. I'm still not doing as well as I'd like, but a lot better than the <1.0 k/d ratio I'd been averaging the past couple days. I've got it equipped with Scavenger Pro, Cold-Blooded Pro, and Ninja for an almost invisible class.

On a side note, I had my first nuke experience last night as one of my teammates got it two games in a row. I think/hope the novelty of that will wear off pretty quickly.
ok, well i feel that most people dont use ninja pro much and the home theater comes in very handy here....so as a result you should focus on firepower. so i tend to roll with an ACR with Bilng pro and a red dot and FMJ along with stopping power pro and ninja pro. i dont care about the silencer much because i mainly play FFA and i like to signal where i am to line up the sights on the next poor soul who thinks he/shes (dont wanna leave out the chicks lol) gonna sneak up on me. plus the no footstep noise makes it easier to home in on other players footsteps. and allows you to sneak in real close for a knife kill if wanted.

if you play on rust and just wanna rack up knife kills use marathon pro and lightweight pro along with commando pro. you can outrun and knife anyone and if need be stop really fast and take out enemies with an SMG since they have high mobility. it works great. even if you arent the guy who goes up top and camp you can win most of the time. plus its fun to rack up knife kills in general.

scrambler puts me on alert because i know someones close and i usually get the upper hand on them because of it. and cold blooded pro is awesome for sniping and smg sneak classes.

also, the FAL is my PAL! man can you do damage with this and stopping power. two shots is enough! thanks all for my two cents
post #80 of 2153
oh and perhaps its just me, but i hate the holographic sights. i feel they get obtrusive and are not as precise as their red dot counterparts. the smaller tighter reticule on the red dot allows me to make longshots easier...or perhaps i played cod4 with my g3 class too much? and cant get used to the holo sight. but to each their own
post #81 of 2153
holo sights are too big
i still havent found a situation that i prefer them over red dots

tonight was very productive.
since letting friends use my ps3, my k:d was down to 70something percent.
tonight got it up to .94

also was able to get some wins back after all those losses they racked up.
went on a 39 game streak of team death and dom and free for all.
hopefully can pick up tmrw and get in the neighborhood of 50 or so before losing. would be happy with that

hooked up with the buddies and between all of us we set off about 6 nukes
not that great. i shoulda turned it off after the first one just to see how many kills could be racked up
post #82 of 2153
wtf
and when a room doesnt connect from the lobby, you take a loss

seriously wtf kinda shiet is that
Given the fact that every time I look at my friends list, 75% of it is playing this game online - I'm shocked that this thread leaked all the way down to the second page.

Here's an online strategy guide I was just reading that gave some decent tips:

http://www.gamesradar.com/f/modern-w...11121513184057

I'm still doing a lot of bouncing around loadouts and perks, but that's because I'm a 30 right now and unlocking lots of stuff. Right now I have my personalized loadouts to match maps/circumstances. One for close quarters, one just for unlocking gun perks, one for when you get paired up on a team where you know instantly that you're gonna be dodging UAVs, helicopters, AC130s and predators all game and one "favorite" setup.

Can't believe how ranked up everyone is. My rank is usually one of the bottom 3 or 4 in the room.

One final note, I'm loving the popularity of this game. Whether I'm getting owned or not, it is so much fun playing with everyone here and a few of my college buddies.

well if you had a 15 wins to 35 losses and a 1 to 3 kills to death ratio then you wouldn't care as much...
touche.
but it ruined my 53 game winning streak i had going.
Main Loadout:
SCAR
AA12

Bling Pro(Silencer and RedDot)
Stopping Power Pro
Commando Pro or Steady Aim

Claymores or Semtex/Flashbangs

I am trying to get my K/D back to being respectable right now its about 1.2

As far as tips -
If you're having problems getting the kill when you and someone go heads up (you see each other at the same time but you get killed) try the slight of hand pro. It has faster aiming and depending on what weapon is being used the difference seems to be almost a full second.
Bellyflopping (jump then lay down in the air) is looked down upon mostly but if you are having a hard time it can be the difference between a 3/16 game and a 8/11 game.
I haven't seen anyone bust out a bellyflop yet, but it sounds like the ultimate cheap move.

That ain't how they intended the game to be played.............at all.

I need to go check out some of those tips, this game is rockin' me online. I did great with COD4 and WAW, but with MW2 I'm lucky just to break even in a game. Most times in a one-on-one I don't even get to push the fire button! That's how fast I'm getting killed.

I wonder, though, this is the first online game I'm playing on my new TV, and it runs at 240Hz. I've heard a few things how it can be problematic for such online games. I mean, the game looks really sweet, and I don't feel like anything is laggy, but it's a possibility. At least I hope it is!! I need the reason to be anything but how much I suck.

Good advice! This is how I roll too - but my close quarters is also one of my gun perk classes (one is SMG's, while the other is A/R or LMG's).
I like it, Ballen. I have a spare loadout and was wondering what to do with it. That's what I'll do, split it off for a LMG perk harvest.

I usually use my 'unlocking gun perks' loadout when I'm playing with all the guys on here, since we're all decent at the game I know it'll be a fair fight and we won't have missles raining from the sky.

I think eventually I'll settle into a 'phantom' setup centered around the cold-blooded perk and silencer. I like to take the extra time to attempt to flank the other team, so my points usually lag behind everyone else in the match.

It's great though because once I've completed the flank, my teammates start spawning around me and we create a second front that usually gets the first shot while the enemy has their back turned.

I can't believe I've played this game to where I'm a 30 rank and I still haven't cracked the top million!!! Unbelievable how many people are playing, and playing religiously. Fun stuff.
