Please... need input on this ASAP!?

So I have narrowed down my extensive searching ,question asking, etc... to two receivers. One is 7.1 and the other 5.1. I really don't need 7.1 anytime soon, but the best pricing on can get on these are within $10 of each other.

Basically it is down to the Onkyo HT-S5200 and the Denon DHT-590BA. This Denon cames with Boston Aucistics speakers.

Yes, Onyko has 7.1. Also has one more HDMI input. Speakers are larger and seem more powerful than the ones for the Denon. But I am also concerned if the Onkyo is a lot hotter than the Denon? But have the Audyssyes (sp?). Lastly, as far as I know, Denon has been known as more reputable and a better name.... is this correct?

Anyhow, so I should leave it this short in hopes of actually getting some responses. Want to grab one of these this weekend. So any and all input ob this is very, very much appreciated!

Oh, and shold clarify and make sure this info is fact. Both of these receivers can accept and put out audio and video via HDMI, correct? Meaning, I won't need extra cables and whatnot.

You need to step up to the 6xxx series Onkyo to get audio from HDMI input, meaning no HD audio(DD or DTS) for you from that 5200. You'd need audio over HDMI OR analog inputs on the receiver along with analog outputs on your player to get the HD audio. This leaves the 5200 out.

I believe blu ray is the only current source for HD audio, so that may or may not be a deal breaker for you depending on how you feel about blu ray.

In addition, I believe the Denon has a more advanced version of the Audyssey thing, so if that's important to you then Denon is favored in this category.

If it were me, with only $10 separating them, I'd go with the Denon system.

The two things that would make me favor the Onkyo would be if I wanted/needed 7.1 and if I was okay with 'normal' surround sound as opposed to wanting the lossless HD blu ray audio.

Get the Denon, better receiver, analog conversion to HDMI plus HDMI audio including TrueHD and DTS-MA decoding.

The 5200 is lacking in many ways. The only advantage is 7.1 speaker setup.

Well I bought the Denon system today. Am getting it from Electronics Expo at an outstanding $390! Am so excited! Even the rep who helped me said that this was killer... especially paired with the BA speakers. Thanks for the input!
