It is only a matter of time before all 10 of Dave Schulte' satisfied customers are posting in this thread.

Just a followup birdboy (funny how I just thought of movie "Avatar" ):

Don't need 2mil worth of test/measurement equip.

Just before/after test measurements on paper performed by DS on his test equip performed on your equip.

I would think that along with certificate, a copy of test/measurement results would be in your possession. Regardless whether you are or not interested in such things.

I most certainly am based on your "COMPLETELY" and "VERY" happy "SQ" results.

Please share with me as I too am wanting to open up whole new listening experience.

So you opened and saw yourself the hideous tin foil like 1950's B science fiction creature in the spaceship.

I would be frightened too. Especially knowing I just voided the warranty.

I can't wait for the sequel!

So tell us, what brand of power cords are installed on all that expensive test equipment? Surely your hardware engineers would insist on only the best power cords and interconnects???
STILL no answer on how many have ACTUALLY had the upgrade.. If you've had it done and you are still not satisfied then ok, --you have a right to bitch -- and likely you have exhausted all the avenues to correct the situation with Dave ..or you wouldn't be on here.

But if you haven't .. then what's the basis of your argument to those that have had it done? How would you propose to share the listening experience or A/B? Is it logistically possible?

lol wtf Keilworth?
I notice you mentioned thermostreams, along with scopes, computers, etc.

I too can produce this effect on my vaporizer test gear.

You can't imagine the thermostream spike in performance test results!

I keep forgetting to write them down though. I don't know why.

well -- common etiquette would dictate you don't tell someone to get lost when they are defending baseless attacks on a service you know nothing about. You cant substantiate a single thing you've said, Mikey. I can only tell you I have had the service done and I'm happy with it. (see , this time I left out CAP's because that offended you) Now - having said that , If you have a stock Onkyo SR885 Pre/Pro and /or a Denon 3800BCDI, that can logistically be A/B with my modded units , then that's constructive for us both If not. .. lol ..then leave the poor guy alone

I'm in California -- TUC is in Michigan. If you'd fly 4 hours here , then surely you'd fly two hours to TUC. I think it would be more productive for you to go to Dave's..
you guys may want to tone it down a bit please

thanks

Where in California? I'd rather come to your house. My brother also lives in California as

I used to for 30 yrs before moving here to Aberdeen NC. Lol!

What do you say?

A good point you made about spending the money to California when I could spend less coming to Michigan for same results.

Somewhat like the $150.00 pwr cable analogy.

I could just keep the one that came with my equip. Or I could spend $150.00 and hear same results and save my money.

Still, I'm sure you have test result measurements on paper before I make the same investment as you and the many others with good results.

so Mikey ---are you serious?
With all the sarcasm , I couldn't be sure.

We'll need a stock Onkyo or Denon.. Will you provide?
I apologize for my sarcastic tone. Still what I'm asking as well as others is verifiable test results. I may want to send my equip in for same modifications and want to know more.
Sorry,

Mike

Actually ----- there is a hi end audio dealer in Saratoga ,Ca (No Cal) that still has an Onkyo in stock.. Your call ...
You can't put this stuff on paper and you know that...and besides --its the internet! You just have to hear it.

What hi end dealer is in Saratoga?

How many actual (unsatisfied) TUC customers are in this thread? Please make yourself known. I count three. Dave: This is a feeding frenzy , with all due respect , you should quit posting in here - its a losing battle. Power down the PC and walk away

Ok As for me , Dave has modded my Onkyo. Yeah, ok the tin foil looks like something from a bad 1950's B movie spaceship, but I'm COMPLETELY satisfied with the SQ. The analog staging opens up a whole new listening experience. Listening is subjective. I'm just Joe Consumer .. I do not posses $2mil worth of test/ measurement equipment to substantiate my claims. I'm VERY happy with the results.

I have only counted two unhappy customers and one claimed to have a problem with his unit but found out later that the problem was not with the modifications. Now it looks like there is only one realistic complaint but none who have posted anything negative on sound quality. I have the TUC standard Oppo 83 and I would put it up against anything under 10k retail. It will flat make mince meat out of mid-fi units and I have had my share here that's for sure. Isn't that what the original poster was looking for? He didn't say he wanted test measurements. It seems he just wanted to hear from people who have had experience with TUC.

Wow, what an endorsement. For a thousand bucks or so, TUC didn't make things worse... Sounds like a great deal to me. And of course, even that claim isn't backed up by any measurements.

Which he has. Despite your tiresome (and unsubstantiated) claims of how great your modded unit is, and despite a steady stream of newbies who just "happen" to show up here to post glowing testimonials, pictures speak louder than words. Based on the images posted, not to mention the bizarre "no peeking" warranty, I would never do business with TUC, period.

[quote=MrHiEndAudio;17986603] 7- MCLSOUND - I gave his repair shop our credit card information way back in August of 2009 yet no charges ever appeared.

I will let Rick know that you still agree to pay for the repairs Dave, very kind of you????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????

I consider myself very good cook as well and would put up my mince-meat pie against anyone.

Yes, more sarcasm. I just cannot help it.

But seriously, I want to know what modifications along with documentation to prove the results you and your satisfied customers claim.

If the secrecy of your secrets is to protect yourself, I understand.

I am however interested in seeing proof of your test results and equip utilized, only in justifying the amount of money I may want to spend to obtain those same results.

I believe I have a good sound system, and most days I love it, somedays I don't.

By the way, just went to your website and noticed somewhat of a new look. Nice picture of you too. What happened to the Priest?

I would consider that their belief systems are skewed to the point that no matter what point they are arguing, the audible difference of their newly modified CDP or their speaker cable sounds better with 50 hours of burn-in or evolution or if vaccinations cause autism. Based on what I've seen here, people I know, and similar behavior in other fields (not to mention the examples you chose here), it seems the argument you posit fits wonderfully with the scientific community. Especially the ones that would suffer financially from change.

Will Costco brand tin foil work or do we need high resolution, phase-aligned Reynolds Wrap?

What about the blue paint? Do we need to prep the surface with a liquid sander first or maybe primer? High gloss, or satin finish?

I want my 10.00 CDs to sound like a concert hall.
Following this thread for awhile I really believe there will be no happy ending. I think that the only way for any type of answers is to do actual comparisons between say the TUC Oppo BDP-83 and the stock BDP-83. If Dave is interested in showing all the naysayers (myself included) that his modded BDP-83 will slay all $10K and up CD players provide a unit to a reputable reviewer for comparison. Of course the reply from TUC will most likely be "why would I do that I'm busy and making tons of money".

But if TUC was concerned about its reputation it would be happy to provide a modded unit for comparison. But maybe not.

Here's a link to some before and after photos of what Dan Wright does in his Oppo mods. Dan spends months developing and testing modifications before release, modifies only a handful of items, and isn't camera shy about what he does.

Compare to photos in this thead of TUC parts swapping/foil/miracle damping fluids.

I dunno, the random blue paint and foil on everything looks like a far superior job
post #1079 of 2187
I'm beginning to think if this type of modification and its ramifications wouldn't be best

shared and discussed among those visiting the "Tweaks and Do-It-Yourself" Forum.

With all due respect.

Without however, unnecessary shipping charges and cost's and stress boxing up and

shipping my prized and beloved audio gear to total stranger upon promises of aural

nirvana I would otherwise never imagine and be known to me.

Even I would measure and document everything I possibly could before modifying my

own equip just so at least I'd be able to put it all back together again just in case.

But, even if I was pleased with the results (thinking that it indeed sounds better) and

feeling sense of technical accomplishment, I would then measure again to see what

exactly what changes occurred.

Then I would share my results if worthy of mentioning among the DIY Forum.

Unless, I had discovered the blue fountain of youth.

I love mince-meat pie. Do you think yours is a good as my mothers? Maybe I could convince my wife to make me one, and I could have a three way taste off. I'm not sure measurements will do any good, so I'll have to rely on taste.
Of course I'll taste them blind. And with the help of my kids I could probably make it double blind. One child could label the pies A B C. The second child could feed me the pies (without knowing which came from where). I'd eat the pies blindfolded so their appearance did not effect my choice. Of course if my wife entered as a contestant she would have to be out of the house - so as not to subconsciously (or otherwise) influence my decision. Sounds like a great idea. Yum

edit: I will of course pay for your pie making supplies and shipping costs for my hopefully delicious pie. And will share the results if anybody is interested.
