I have a variety of CD and DVD players, from Pioneer BD, several NAD's, couple of Denon's including a DVD/SA. All of them are still a tad edgy to varying degrees on the analog outputs. Going PCM to my Denon 3802 or Rotel 1055 AVR's does not really help. About the same. I guess one could call all of what I have high end of entry.
So, I was considering 3 paths. Lets throw aout a number, say a grand available. The obvious is a newer higher line CD making the asumption it has better on-board DAC's. Second was an outboard DAC. I see the PS is highly regarded. Third is use of a Jensen transformer at my amp input. All three approaches seem to have followers. Or would moving into mid-range really get me much.
What is the going wisdom in this thread?
