Best way to watch whats on in other room

This is probably an easy answer for someone who knows about direct tv. My friend has an HD tv set up in his basement family room with a direct tv hd dvr.
In a basement bedroom adjacent to the family room he has a room set up for lifting. In this room he has an Hd tv that he wants to be able to view whats being viewed in the family room. The only thing run between the two tvs in an RG6. What would be the best way to accomplish this? He does not want to pay for another receiver so that option is out.

Depending on the satellite box, it should be able to output HDMI and component at the same time. Use the RG6 as a pull cord to pull whichever output isn't currently being used for HD.
