^ Oh man.....I just realized I haven't watched this one since I switched my new receiver in for the old one, and haven't hooked the BK back up. I have to do that tomorrow. Ironically, we're watching it now.

New receiver? Nice! It is fun playing some of your favorite demo scenes when you do an upgrade since there is usually some sort of improvement

Is the LFE better on the Director's Cut?? I didn't saw it , only the regular BD.

I haven't measured it by anything other than ear, but there is no discernible difference from what I can tell.

My very understanding wife is so sick of my demo scenes right now...

I understand that one. My GF hates Fight Club at this point since I use a few scenes from that more than anything for tweaking/testing........even the best/most understanding women have their breaking point when it comes to this hobby! Maybe if I start using TS instead of Fight Club it will help since she has not seen that one yet......

ha ha the same. She is sick of SW EP III opening scene (fight scene).

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie even though there were two flaws that tarnished the storyline a bit.

movie itself very boring but audio more than made up for it. IMO a must see

I'm surprised so many of you liked this film. Felt like the script/story was truncated and didn't flow well. CB's John Conner was a 2 dimensional characterization handled with very little subtlety or charisma. Worthington stole every scene. Each fight featured a T picking up and throwing someone into something hard, walking slowly toward them until they recover, have them shoot the T with whatever was left, getting picked up again, thrown again, etc. until some clever solution to stopping or blowing up the mech presented itself.

How in the heck did the giant mech sneak up on the gas station?

Sound was great, but the movie content and characters were just water flowing down the pipe of one extended action scene. Not much suspense, not much enjoyment at my house.

I 100% agree with this, I just didn't know how to put it in words other than "this movie seemed to be more about worthington than anything else".
Dissapointing as I am a Terminator fan.

so when are the going to review the best action movie of 2009? I'm speaking of District 9 of course.

I have read that James Cameron may indeed wind up going back to his baby soon. I can only hope he totally ignores the two bastard stepchildren and does his own thing to wrap up the story in a logical way and then closes the book for good... and with an intriguing plot and good acting unlike Avatar (sadly).

Both Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger have stated that if Cameron is back on board, they're back.

I wonder if he'd put Edward Furlong back in as John Connor as a favor to the guy. He hasn't exactly had a smooth life.

does this Blu-Ray include the trailers? i can't seem to find them

Might be because around 30 minutes were cut. When a real director's cut is released, that's when I'll buy.

Just watched this last night. After reading the review I decided to watch and I'm glad I did. Review was right on and we enjoyed the movie. Great job on the review. My only regret is I couldn't turn it up very loud, as some of the family was trying to sleep.

Has anyone had any problems with the Focus Points extras on a PS3? My PS3 has the latest firmware but many of the Focus Points simply do not play.

I returned two Blu-ray discs to Amazon and the third is having the same problems, purchased from Target.

This is the first time I've ever had any problem with any blu-ray disc, and I've got over 30 so far.

Any ideas?

The same way, in dozens of films, that a helicopter suddenly appears rising behind characters from under a bridge or something (as if they couldn't hear it coming). It's the movies! Laws of physics and common sense do not apply.

I like this movie. The DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack really give my JBL speakers and Sub a real good workout. Your review of this movie was spot on Ralph.

This Terminator is fantastic. The best in the series IMO. It forced me to watch the other three again, and Terminator Salvation takes the cake for the best of the series. I lost interest in the franchise, but this one has brought me back into the fold. Great review Ralph!

I would say reference movie both AQ AND PQ.There are quite a few reference sound scenes.The opening scene with the airplane flying over the sub is unique,probably the best scene to evaluate the front end , and the souround end , of a system.Reveals how demanding a blu ray movie can be. Sure a demo movie to show off my avp-poa-a1ud system -speakers diy of course.

I know this thread is old, but I believe that a couple of points need commenting upon.

The first is that this film should be at the top of the list in terms of movies that highlight a high end HT system. A few mentioned this fact, but it is still not on many reference lists and it should be. I know Ralph has it on his, but no one else does as far as I know.

I have a new calibrated Mitsu 82 inch and the visual special effects were absolutely spectacular.

I also have a 9.2 system w/ over $20K in audio equipment and this film is better than most that are on the list of great test material for audio. Again, absolutely spectacular.

However, in terms of the film itself, I must disagree w/ the positive reviews. Many things did not make sense (like a heart transplant in the middle of the dessert in a post apocalyptic society....I guess the handful of surgeons in the world that could pull such a feat off were readily available). And while I loved the Arnold touch, another extended scene of someone being thrown around a factory is played.

I also felt that Christian bale was miscast (originally the directer wanted Worthington to play John Connor, but Bale bullied everyone into giving him the part).

Bale, who deserved the Oscar for his fantastic role if the fighter deserved to have it taken away for his uni-dimensional work here.

Nonetheless, this movie is an absolute must have for anyone who wants to really let his or her high end HT shine.

I purchased TS on BD a couple of months ago at a really cheap price.
Finally I got to sit down and "experience" the entire movie yesterday afternoon.
WOW!!!
Terminator Salvation is a great sci-fi action flick and second only to T2 in the series IMHO.
The awesome reference quality audio on this disc makes it a must have for action movie junkies like me.

Also it's a little bizarre that this site only list this film as four stars on the
"The New Master List of BASS in Movies with Frequency Charts."

Terminator Salvation should be listed as 5 stars on that list.
This flick has some the cleanest, tightest, deepest and most powerful bass
that I have ever "experienced" on BD.

BTW - Did anyone else notice that the eel like creature in the Terminator Salvation lake scene
looked suspiciously like the eel like creature that was in the first Transformers movie?
