Quality, Affordable Receiver?

Hi Guys…

I'm looking for a Quality Receiver that's quite affordable for a simple home theater set up.

I have not bought any items for the potential theater yet except my PS3.

I don't know much about analog or Digital connections but I hear going all HDMI is good so please weigh that into your recommendations.

Thanks people.

when you set the basic consideration that you want to process audio over an HDMI cable, along with video, you put a floor on the entry level receivers that have that capability.

a few to start your search: Denon 590 or 1610; Onkyo SR507; Pioneer 919 or 1019; Yamaha V565

Thank you m_vanmeter, I'm liking the Onkyo SR507 so far. Good reviews & good price too.

I was looking at the Yamaha RX-V363BL It got great reviews & is cheap.. however it is only HDMI Pass Through. (whatever that means lol, but I know it ain't full HDMI lol)

HDMI pass through is just a mechanical switch. The receiver itself doesn't read the HDMI stream, so you will get no audio decoding with it.

To be honest the lower level Yamahas are really lacking in so many ways. They really do a disservice to the reputation of the higher end models.

And I hated the usability of the pioneer that I purchased my wife.

Onkyo and Denon are good solid pieces, even at this price point.

You'll probably want to shoot for at least 3 HDMI in:
Connection #1 Cable box/DVR,
Connection #2 PS3
Connection #3 BluRay player
