Can I record HDTV on iMac, then play the recording on blu ray player?

Hi, I have a C2D iMac, 2 ghz, 2g RAM. I want to use it as an HD DVR, then burn the recordings to a DVD and watch the disc on my blu ray player. I've just started the research process, but I think that all I need is Eye TV and an antenna, is that correct?

Will I be able to burn the recordings onto a disc that I can watch on my blu ray player?

Maybe, but probably not. You will need an external Blu-Ray drive and Toast 10 with the Blu-Ray plug-in and blank BR media. You can also use a standard DVD on your machine's internal DVD drive using Toast but you will be limited to 30-minutes of program time. But even then your disk may or may nt be playable. I have burned my own HD productions to a standard DVD using Toast with mixed results. Apple does not support Blu-Ray so you are forced to look at third-party solutions.

Short answer is yes. The other post provided was very honest in letting you know that you will need at least an external BD burner/player, and various software. My guess is you will need to play with your files (after using EYE TV to edit them) and convert them. Find the format that Toaster 10 (with the blu ray add in or whatever they call it these days) and create your Blu Ray from the file in question.

I have successfully taken my own DVD converted it to Blu Ray format BD disc and played it back. This was a lil' trial and error at first. I can't qualify all my steps as it has been a long time since. - Point is, you can do it. Just remember that you are dealing most likely with interlaced material 1080i or possibly -720p and NOT 1080p native.
