Just got my FH1A from amazon today. Ordered it a few days ago when the price was right around $395, and w/the free memory card.
So far, looks good
Only thing that sort of bugs me is that when you take a still picture, it re-frames it from what you're looking at on the viewscreen. Ie, you set up your shot, zoom to where you want it, and then hold down the still button halfway to focus, and the zoom changes when it switches to 4:3 mode. Tried shooting in one of the 16:9 modes but it seems to happen then too. Any way to change that...?
Also, I'm trying to figure out how to playback the native mp4 H.264 files on my xbox 360, since it's my primary display device / media center. So far I get sound but no video when streaming from my pc. I have a media server (Tversity) set up to stream other videos (XviD) and music (mp3) to my xbox 360, but when I try to view one of the movies recorded by the FH1, I get sound and no video.
I'm trying WMP11 now to see if maybe it can stream it better.... I can probably burn the mp4's to a DVD or CD and play them by putting them in the drive, but I'd rather not, since I have my other media stored on my main PC hard drive and would like to access these movies the same way.
So any thought on those two issues? Other than that, I'm happy with it
Quality looks nice for both videos and stills, easy to use, etc. I don't find that the lack of optical stabilization is an issue yet. I don't mind a little movement in my videos -- they're "home movies" after all, I'm not shooting a professional show or anything
I haven't done a lot of shooting yet since I just got it today, but so far so good!
